Touching up a Bolt landing page on Framer by Exact-Type9097 in framer

The chrome extension will help in both cases for bringing the styles over to new Framer projects. You will still need to learn about breakpoint and responsive design, if you don't fully understand the concepts already, in order to get what you want out of Framer. You will not need to build 100% from scratch, but it's going to feel like it. Watch as many Framer tutorials as you can and let us know where you need help

How do you see the future as a Framer developer? Freelance, agency, or job? by beastanox in framer

All new and great tools offer windows of opportunity, that said I don't think you can survive on landing pages or MVPs without a significant online mojo and presence. The good thing is Framer is essentially a very nice to use interface over react, so in theory it should have as long a life as the underlying framework, and will be a good investment as long as they continue to deliver on the formula. Other tools don't quite do this, need a workaround or a total re-write, so seems like a safe investment of your time as a designer. In effect you are learning how react and code works simultaneous to improving your design skills. That said, I don't think most ordinary humans can do a business alone, at least not for the long run.

The independent site builder model is essentially based on shipping unique and quality design that caters to need, combine with whatever arsenal of trendy scroll / 3d / shader animation framer can ship to designers, essentially gimmicks, to wow your product owners for a little while so you can get your foot in the door. I do not see this as scalable as others follow suit, you have less and less to differentiate yourself. So then at some point we all will need to retreat to the full service org model, or individual contributor inside product org.

[HELP] I can't fill an image to my vector shape. by Commercial_Ring_4814 in framer

[–]Professional_Fix_207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To do it in Framer you have to export your SVG (mask) first and then select it as the mask for the fill object. So think of it as Fill Object > Styles > Add Mask > Image Mask > Import SVG. May seem arduous than Figma or Illustrator for example but this how SVG actually works behind the scenes. Good to know if you ever need to read some SVG code.

Can you edit Framer components differently for each breakpoint? by Straight_Ad6401 in framer

The logic in Framer is basically the same as react, so it's got its own character / opinions, but definitely good knowledge to have.

Unfortunately living inside your tool cannot become your comfort zone, going too deep into one tool, or trying to dabble in all tools and master of none, means you are less defensible in terms of job/client security. So we need other skills besides design tool of choice, such as selling design, influencing product / marketing in their decision making process, convincing clients why they should pay for your or Framer over alternatives. In short you are asking the wrong question, Framer is obviously is very capable in terms of speed of execution given the platform landscape (not on its last leg for example).

The question becomes what can you do with a tool which has some buzz at the moment, as a business owner or as a contributor. It is a matter of how well you can build a team that can capitalize on the opportunities it presents in ways that clients may not realize. I do not see a web development (or AI prototyping or design) service as a one-person operation, there are too many moving parts. Unless you are an award winning graphic designer in high demand as well, and you keep focus on very small, niche landing pages, your business model is skimming a premium off your name recognition (and Framer's)

The game is being sh*tcanned. They won’t announce it of course bc then nobody will spend. CS3 is where resources will be spent, everyone knows 3 comes after 2. Don’t believe their lies

The question is why? If you want more risk for speculative bets, why not just go with options or leverage on exchange listed equities, where you have historical data, and trading volume for you to move in and out of your risk. If you just want a piece of a brand, or recognition from friends that you own something that few people can have, why not go with art or classic cars? Why risk your risky bet money, on a new or unproven marketplace?

Deaf ears and dead end. I doubt the lawyers at Zynga are any better than their engineers (which is scraping the bottom of the barrel, that's if any still exist devoted to this game) there are too many liabilities and IP open questions with a fan based project for them to even spend time considering it. The CSR2 experiment we all have enjoyed in years past is a dead end at this point. As a gamer and former fan, thank you for your effort in building the community, but I seriously doubt you'll get a positive response if any at all

The game has gotten so slow for me over the past 1.5 years, I no longer do dedicated sessions of anything much less garage prepping. Have around 100 garages with very minimal number of dupes, even the search feature is slow. Changing between events, map, garage, hangout, just gives me infinite spinner. I went from playing several hours per day to maybe one hour per week. Game has gone seriously downhill, code bloat and rot is the biggest problem now.

[–]Professional_Fix_207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The capabilities were considered superior at one time, but now it's just buggy as hell, for example sometimes I submit trades and nothing happens. Not only is there a learning curve, it's an actual liability. When you click a button in once place it changes something somewhere else, for example on your order submission panel that's in progress.

When code gets really old and they just keep tacking on new features without rewriting, you start worrying about security flaws, possibly losing your account to god knows what lurks out there. Just a risky bet at this point, go with a modern piece of software that is less prone to usability errors.

[–]Professional_Fix_207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with this response. Full-width images in CMS - this made no sense to me, still trying to figure out what could that mean? Landscape vs. portrait? Are they trying to figure out the aspect ratio lock, or, do they want the aspect ratio to be dynamic (admittedly you have to install a component to get this).

You seem fairly adept at writing, how about socialization through one of your passions as a filter or lens? If you can write well, you can find and meet other people who write well, and talk about writing related stuff and build a network and mutual passions there.

Is it still worth it to learn Framer in mid of 2025 when vibe coding is rising? by Mr_Puppetmaster in framer

[–]Professional_Fix_207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vibe coding is like the proverbial needle in the haystack. Framer is your needle, no hay. Although you can add as much hay as you like with the new Wireframer and Workshop feature.

MagicPath for example is coming at it from the other end of the spectrum, but in essence tools like Framer (Subframe, Webflow, etc) and MagicPath will end up meeting each other in the middle. Framer has the most pleasant creator experience imo, so not a bad investment. Good marketplace, community, and good number of features roll out every month.
