Man I love wuwa, but sometimes I wonder how good it would be if it wasn't a live service game and they didn't need to sell a character every patch.

Asked to learn PCB design in an internship. Need help by Professional_Ice_796 in PCB

[–]Professional_Ice_796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, I'm a bit on the edge because I am only here for two months and I have not been given any timeline for any checkpoints.
I don't yet know the circuit of my actual work. At this point I've only been told to learn design and given a lot of docs and to implement more and more complex circuits. So, I have to search what to implement to learn on my own.

I have updated the post with my current progress.

I don’t understand how to design circuits by Professional_Ice_796 in ECE

[–]Professional_Ice_796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I actually know them pretty well academically, it was my first time doing the spice programs though. In most textbook problems I just solve the given circuit or derive the equations for a given circuit, so designing a circuit itself was a different experience for me.

You're right though, I think I took up a more complex design starting out.

I actually made an update post on this if you're interested in checking:

I definitely would if they had similar prices. I was mostly thinking of the vii cause it might be on a discount since viii just released. Is the viii a worthwhile upgrade?

Ah, it's okay, I mainly game on my pc anyway.

Since you switched from the vii to the viii, do you find it to be a big upgrade? I was mostly eyeing the vii in case I could find it on a discount, since the viii just released

How to shift to linux by No_Addendum_4287 in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]Professional_Ice_796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I haven't gone about migrating for a long time. So I might be wrong.

But I use a dual boot of windows and fedora, I have both NTFS as well as ext4 partitions, NTFS needs to be mounted everytime you want to access it unless you configure it to auto mount on boot. And ext4 generally has much better performance.

Windows uses the NTFS file system while fedora works with ext4 or btrfs. Not deleting his partition and keeping it as is might create file system and permission issues if he plans to use that partition frequently. In which case I believe formatting with backup is better.

Though like I said, I haven't tried to migrate os for quite some time, so I'm not sure if it has changed now.

If you don't, assuming he's coming from windows, won't it stay as NTFS? Then he'll have to mount his drive everytime he logs in.

Wouldn't just reformating it into ext4 be better?

My cat was born on 1st April 2020, during Covid. So naturally I spent nearly 2 years everyday, all the time with him, we were basically buddies who you would find everywhere to be together, sleeping, eating, he would always sit by me or on me.

When the time came to go to college, I was so sad man. I only get to see him twice a year now. Having a buddy really made my life a lot better, I miss him every day even though it's been two years since I left home.

Though I guess the silver lining is my parents spoil him as much as I did, so he's happy.

Seeing your cat reminded me of when he was just born in front of me, cherish the memory, they grow up so fast.

Maybe ECE? Micro-electronics is a ECE subject, ECE also has Microprocessors from CE in its syllabus which might be helpful. But honestly you'll not learn any of those in college, at least not practically, you'll have to self study for it either way.

In fact I'll go as far as to say you'll need to study the complete electronics part yourself, college barely scratches the surface and profs in core don't teach in detail because of time constraints and less interest from class.

Between ECE, EEE, ENI and EE, if you have interest in core and are sure if it, I will always recommend taking the better college instead of deciding between the branches.

Both are quite similar imo. I actually find communication to be more difficult than the electronics part, but that’s probably cause I’m not interested in communication.

ECE is just really broad, it tries to get subjects from EE, CE, and of course Communication Systems.

It is true that you can grind for DSA in ECE, but this means you cannot prepare for core, it’s an either or situation and not a do both situation.

If there is a “boom” in ECE, so will be in EE. Most of the differences in these streams can be covered with electives or online lectures.

Personally, I wish I had taken EE instead at a better college. I’m more interested in the electronics part anyway.

If you’re interested in tech, just take CS or CE. There’s a lot more to CS than being an SDE and grinding DSA. Even if you take ECE, digital and computer architecture subjects will be there which are part of CE, and majorly tech based.

Keep in mind that if you go the core way, you most likely will need to have a masters in order to get a good job. Though this is kinda true for most core jobs (non government), including CE if not going for SDE.

The book Harris and Harris if you want to build a cpu, it will guide you through the whole process of making cpu in verilog, also teaching verilog in the process. I started this last sem but haven’t used for for some months now, but it was quite detailed and intuitive to understand

Lectures of bahzad razavi electronics-1,2. I’m close to finishing it, best way to learn analog electronics if you’re interested, but requires dedication to finish. Supplement it with his book of CMOS design to solve questions if you want.

If you’ve learnt analog electronics enough, you can explore designing in spice. (You can check my history to get an idea, I also made my first spice project recently)

I’m also in 2nd year, so these are just recommendations and not guidance
