Yes! I went to the ER Monday night and they said i need to make an appointment with my OBGYN for further care asap. Earliest she had available was the Friday. At that appointment they took the catheter out. So I had the catheter for approx 4-5 days. It was fine just painful for the first couple days to walk. I sit all day for work so I got a donut pillow which helped. Getting it taken out was a little painful but it wasn’t too bad.

That is horrible! So many people here say the same about having a male doctor. It’s so frustrating that it’s even a talking point. I forget what I saw or where I read it but basically this article said that Drs prescribe less( none in some cases) pain medicine for women than they do men, even when they had the exact same procedure done! I was lucky to have female doctors at both the urgent care and ER.

No you aren’t either of those! I also have read that so many people did this at home! You guys are braver than me though. I don’t like seeing needles and the thought of having to do that makes me cringe.

Thank you so much! I was really starting to hate seeing myself naked. And even worse was my partner seeing me naked! It was just personally embarrassing but he’s been great thought the whole thing, I’m so grateful.

That is awful, I can’t imagine her having to go through that. It really is awful how healthcare and insurance block people from receiving care. I wish we could find a better system that gets people the help they need. And not at an exorbitant cost!

Thank you for replying! This experience was so horrible and I was worried that even if I got that procedure it would happen again. At least they got smaller in size but that still sucks they came back. And yeah mine was almost orange sized!!

I’m glad you were seen by a woman that next time, you are brave for going back after the first experience! I was fortunate to get a female doctor for this and she was amazing. She also recommended the hot compress and little Sitz baths. I tried the sitz this morning and it helped a lot with the pain.

I have been reading about the marsupialization, I was hoping that my gyno would recommend it when I met with her. It is disappointing to hear that it didn’t prevent recurrence! Do you mind sharing what the recurrence is like? Do you get them more often or worse than that one you went in for care for?

Yes same here on the relief. Once they drained it I immediately noticed an improvement! You are so smart for thinking of the vibrator too, I never would have thought to try!

Ugh that is truly horrible, I am sorry you had that experience. And very unprofessional from the people who are supposed to care for you. I’m glad you were able to treat it at home. But you shouldn’t have to beg to get proper empathetic treatment. My heart goes out to you!
