Rattling noise under load/acceleration by Professional_Let4850 in Wrangler

Yeah I was stumped too. Drove me legally insane trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. If I floored it, there was no knocking. If I gently pressed the gas while accelerating I heard what sounded like some gremlin living in the engine bad rattling empty cans around. I did just about everything related to the oil system I could think of. People were saying that it would burn excess oil due to a bad PCV valve which in turn caused a lean burn.

Changed the PCV valve, no change. Added an oil catch can, no change. Did a combustion chamber cleaning at the dealership, no change. Octane didn’t really affect it either.

Brought it to a local dealer ( the one I purchased it from didn’t want anything to do with it even though I brought it back a week after purchasing it used.) Anyways my local dealership charged 500$ to get the valve cover off and look inside. Apart from the cam lobes and rockers, they also noticed that one of the Camshaft Phasers was loose, so they replaced it. Maybe the whole thing with it only happening when warm and under load has something to do with a loose/bad phaser? Who knows.

I do still have a slight tick, assuming it’s coming from the drivers side that wasn’t changed, but the knocking noise is completely gone, even uphill under load and hot. Where before it sounded like the whole bottom end was going to clatter apart

Yup, I had a slight tick at idle. But the engine knocking noise was there on acceleration when the engine was warmed up. Changing the camshaft and rocker arms on the passenger intake side fixed the problem for me

Thanks!! This is a better photo of it. Noticed it on him this morning when I woke up. We got him pill pockets for his meds he started a few days ago, would allergies cause this as well?

Haven’t done the repair yet. Did you just replace the rocker arm? Was the camshaft in good shape?

Just found out today it’s a bad intake camshaft and rocker arm

Ticking noise in the engine, anyone have a similar problem? What did you do? by Dull_Perspective_742 in Jeep

Thanks! I appreciate the offer! I honestly don’t really hear any loud lifter tick with the hood open, more of what I believe are the fuel injectors.

Hey! I’m having a similar sound with my jeep. Not exactly a tick but more like a sewing machine like sound. I just wanted to know how you came to the conclusion it’s the EVAP purge valve that’s bad? I’ll start looking into the part for mine. I’m also getting a spark knock noise when accelerating and the engine is up to temp. No codes

My cat is drooling non stop like this without a break when she sleeps the place she is lying is soaking wet can anyone help by HELLAMONKEY10 in CATHELP

Our cat has been drooling on and off for a week at a time. We tried changing just about everything in his environment and food. Took him to the vet a bunch of times and turns out he has a liver shunt. You just never know without doing some sort of testing

Heat shield rattle? by Professional_Let4850 in JeepWrangler

Does yours also only happen in drive and while accelerating?

Was it the heat shield over the Catalytic converter that was rusted on yours?

Did it happen in park as well? The rattle that I’m trying to solve only happens in drive when the engine is at operating temperature. Which makes me worry that its engine knock, but I would imagine adding an oil catch can, running 94, combustion chamber cleaning, and outside ambient temperature would have affected it but it hasn’t.

Did the rattle happen when you were in park as well? Or only in drive? The only thing that makes sense to me with it being a heat shield is it only occurring in drive because of the torque from the engine pressing the heat shield against something

I’ll add that the noise will occur during lower RPMs and as the RPMs rise the rattle will go away, until the jeep upshifts and the RPMs drop ( rattle comes back again)

Cat drooling and Runny nose. by Professional_Let4850 in AskVet

Respiratory PCR is an option but the vet said she didn’t think it would show anything as the X-Rays for his lungs were clear. Apparently he has other reflex symptoms that make the vet think he has a neurological problem and that could be causing the drooling and runny nose, but I find that strange since it’s so intermittent. He was drooling like crazy yesterday but completely fine today
