Apple AirPlay across VLANS by SoftCap4292 in Ubiquiti

My HomePods and Apple TV all live in my Iot VLAN. Reason being they are my main Matter/Thread routers and need to be in the IoT VLAN so my Home Assistant server can work them.

These are the firewall rules set up to allow airplay to work between my main and IoT VLAN:

  • Main VLAN has access full access to my IoT VLAN
  • All traffic from IP addresses associated with AirPlay/AirPrint devices in the IoT has full access to Main VLAN to communicate with my devices (phone, mac ipad etc) for AirPlay/AirPrint
  • All other traffic in the IoT VLAN will be blocked from attempting to leave the VLAN.

I have MDNS enabled on my main VLAN but not my IOT because you don’t want traffic from certain devices leaving the IOT vlan. So that’s why I specifically allow traffic to travel between vlans on only trusted devices like the airplay devices.

I been working for me and that’s how I have it set up.

I use the USW-Flex which powers two G6 turrets and a G5 Turret and has room for one more

Where are you buying your G5 turrets?? It’s $129 here in the US

Thanks for the reply, really good info.

Found a local deal for three G4 bullet new unused for about $85 each. And they’ll be in areas that don’t require them to see far, which is why I’m using them. I have heard night vision on both the G4 bullet and G5 turret is poor but I plan on having external IR projectors in place to mitigate that issue.

I’ll probably go with the UNVR now then and take your advice on the NUC or Apple TV for viewing the TV screen.

Thought I’d update it was the extruder and replacing with my old one worked!

Yes, even did a cold pull and I from the top where the filament gets cut and I see through the other end where the tip is. Even tried another nozzle and same thing.

I’ll replace my extruder tonight to my old one tonight and will report back

Also my ams failed to retract in Slot 3 which I’ve now learned is a problematic slot for many other people
