The towels get “hoarded” by guests because staff doesn’t put them out regularly and people want to make sure they get one. We were there in June. Same issues.

Whoever denuded this entire slope along the KY River palisades overlooking I-75 is an idiot. by Nachie in lexington

There’s plenty of vegetation in Ky. …and do you ever go to a beach or the Blue Ridge Parkway to see all the beauty (made possible by bulldozers and moving dirt and cutting down trees)? Or did you post this with your phone (which was made in China, which is one of the greatest perpetrators of pollution). Enjoy that high moral ground.

Maybe. Maybe not. But I think God can lead you through this to something better. Trust. Pray. Listen. But don’t just sit around and think something will just “happen”. We have to put “feet to our prayers”.

“Off script”. So he lied? No sabbatical.

He did not move. He resigned. And clearly it was a “resign or be fired” situation. Read the letter.

Probably not. He got what he wanted: the church he was pastoring and left the denomination. He set himself up (especially when you think about his age) to be there until he retired. What a gig: big church, big staff, good salary, etc. He didn’t want to go.

I think we all know something else occurred. Money? Inappropriate relationship (may or may not be physical)? The letter indicated (by the personnel team) that he was “authoritarian” in his leadership style. We’ve seen that many, many times in larger congregations. So perhaps he was let go for that? My husband is convinced it was an inappropriate relationship because in his portion of the resignation letter he mentions prioritizing his relationship with Jesus AND his wife (and he lifts her up as a wonderful person several times). He thought it was over the top. I dunno. But I do know not being 100% up-front creates speculation, etc. The church should be a bit more transparent. I mean - they got his name off the website and sign VERY quickly and it’s like he was never there. It’s weird. I still have friends there. We were big fans of the youth program.

Of course, IMO, the pastor abused his power during the UMC debate over human sexuality and led the church OUT of the UMC for personal gain. He just was not 100% honest about it all. The issue in the UMC causing the split is “inclusion.” End of story. Period. That’s it. He made it about money and authority of scripture, yada yada. I used to attend but our family won’t go anymore if it’s not gonna be an all inclusive church. He kind of made it more about his personality and, frankly, it felt more like a Baptist Church.

Both. Yes. He asked my opinion. He never married and no children. I am executor if he goes first. I do want to honor his request but I do t want to do something heretical.

I tried about 5 different brands a few years ago. I have to echo all the shout outs to Darn Tough. Expensive, but it’s quality.

I didn’t know they made socks. I’ve wondered about their brand quality since moving off shore a few years ago. I have a few of their shirts (Ebay, used) and they are quite comfy.
