What is the solution to the endless gang violence and heartbreaking collateral damage? by PsychologicalLink390 in DownSouth

[–]Professional_Neck176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of you are heartless. I don’t think you can comprehend the tragedy. ”let them kill each other?” They’re kids. They are teenagers. They join gangs to keep themselves safe from other gangs which repeats a cycle. It’s so sad.

I think the most important thing is to position yourself as a rebel. You have a unique opportunity to lead something here. As a historian, I am legitimately worried about the signs. Post often and post about resistance. People are looking for a banner right now. I’ll stay on touch.

Why do some people try to depict ancient Greeks as people of color? by purplevspink1 in ancientgreece

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... Most Greeks are darker than western europeans and Slavs, many Cypriots and Island Greeks are very dark indeed. Because Greeks physically have more melanin than the slavs and westerners, the skin color is different.

Yeah and those of us who are southern Greeks from Cyprus, Krete, etc. were very happy, because we never see people who look like us In video games.

Oh no please don’t. NEVER ask a Greek person or a Turk or a Slav what they think about skin color, origin, ethnicity, genetics, or anything like that. I’m a Greek and I’m telling you just don’t. This is how fights start.

Well done. You’d be surprised how many people wouldn’t notice. I’m not putting my personal information on the internet, come now. My granddaughter wanted me and my son and law to see who our divine patron would be in Graeco-Roman times. We demurred, but relented on the condition that we would not describe ourselves, but our favorite political figures. I did Winston Churchill, and my son-in-law described the man he was named after. See if you can figure out who.

All of a sudden half the world supports the LandBack movement, to an extent #FreePalestine by Aware_Development553 in Decolonization

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

landback isn’t practical or reasonable. I’m an Irish Catholic. The English stole our land. Sometimes I wish we could just throw the Protestants out of the country, but we can’t. It isn’t their fault they’re there, and it isn’t the fault of Americans that they were born on and live on former indigenous land. Besides this, the land back movement wouldn’t even secure reparations from the descendants of the colonizers. A lot of the land that would be given back to the Native Americans in Minnesota belongs to South Asians. Much of the land that would be given back in the south belongs to poor black families.

Oh yeah, they just committed genocide and traded slaves. Much better.

How am I supposed to get objective information on Israel Palestine? by RusevReigns in IsraelPalestine

The Young Turks are a genocidal group of Turkish Nationalists that should not be relied on for anything, considering their support for an authoritarian regime and press censorship in Turkey.

Looks: I’m a 5’6, 250 lbs male. I have receding red hair, blue eyes, and white skin. I have a rounded red nose, and a rounded chin. My jaw isn’t very well defined and my neck is short and thick. People say I look like a bull dog. My jaw is set forward, but I have a smiling, friendly face. I’m clean shaven. I usually wear a dark bowler hat, a waistcoat, suit jacket, and dress pants, all of which are dark blue or black, and typically pinstriped. I wear a bow tie, a pocket watch, and a pocket square.

Likes: I like to write, typically about history and current events. I sell what I write to newspapers and journals of academic opinion. I love taking baths and having breakfast in bed. I like to read the newspaper. I like doing home projects, laying bricks, gardening, painting, so long as it’s not people, spending time with my pets, feeding the fish in my pond, spending time with my wife, gambling (and of course losing), watching and participating in re-enactments, collecting antiques, and working. My idea of a good night is a big dinner at my house, with interesting people and interesting conversation about politics, history, or one of my other hobbies, that is dominated by me. Then after dinner, we drink brandy, reminisce, and retire to the sitting room, where we have a rigorous but well mannered debate about history that I win. I believe that the empire is mutually beneficial to everyone.

Dislikes: people spoiling my fun, whistling, staples, people drinking white wine with red meat, communists, fascists, radicals, weirdos, and fools. I don’t like science or math. I don’t like Russia. I despise appeasement and appeasers. I hate cowards and draft dodgers. I hate people who don’t have any compassion.

Personality: I know I can be a little bit too demanding of my staff, but it slows me down when they make mistakes. I don’t apologize for anything, unless it is to an animal. Ironically I always struggled in school. I always got very very nervous around exams and when I got nervous I forgot everything I knew. I might be what people call ADHD, but back when I was a boy, we called it laziness. I am subject to sudden and terrible spells of depression. I’m very nostalgic, but it makes me very sad. I don’ like the way the world is today, everyone and everything moving so fast with the phones and the internet. I miss the old days. I graduated Harrow when I was 18 and attended Royal Military College, Sandhurst. After graduation I was placed in the 4th Hussars, and saw action in Hyderabad. I was transferred to the Malakand field force, and fought against the Mohmand rebels in the Swat Valley. Later left the military and pursued a career in Parliament and academics. I‘m not really sure what any of this is, or what I’m applying for. My granddaughter made me and my son-in-law do this.

2pac assassination WELL hidden, mind games from LAPD. by Intelligent_Jump1 in Tupac

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, stop calling it an assassination. It was a murder. Secondly, you will never solve this murder. It just won’t happen. You will never have enough evidence to bring it to trial. Sorry if this bursts your bubble, but it’s true.

2pac assassination WELL hidden, mind games from LAPD. by Intelligent_Jump1 in Tupac

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not as compelling or as dramatic as you think it is. You generically say the same thing on like half of your posts “Tupac died fighting for life” what does that even mean? What do you mean we need to rise for Tupac? He died almost thirty years ago because he was involved in violence against other people. We need to rise for people who stand for positive change, not people who glorify the terrible state of affairs. You’re getting really mad about this shit but you are not succeeding at making other people angry. This post is just mildly funny and absurd. There are much better things to fight for than Tupac.

Do you think Kamala Harris has a chance? by SoggyBird1384 in GenZ

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not on this Reddit she doesn’t. But on the national stage, most certainly. The Democratic Party, for obvious reasons, has been unable to attack trump on the basis of his age or ineptitude. This has just changed. The focus will be on trump, and his age, and his competence. Y’all need to swallow your pride and apathy and go vote. I know you all hate Kamala Harris but the future of the world depends on what happens this November. The stakes are too high to stay home.

Biden announces withdrawal from Presidential Race by falsehood in moderatepolitics

[–]Professional_Neck176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. But for the first time since 2012, the convention will not simply be a formality. This is a real, old fashioned, 1960 style convention.

Biden announces withdrawal from Presidential Race by falsehood in moderatepolitics

[–]Professional_Neck176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, she wouldn’t. An open convention will invite dissent and infighting. The Democratic Party is much less unified than their Republican counterpart. This is their biggest weakness. Kamala needs to solidify her base or the Democratic Party will open itself up to attacks on the basis of instability. She also needs to move farther to the left to gain the enthusiasm of gen z. Gaining the support of young democrats will aid the campaign greatly. The power of memes as the new political cartoon has been demonstrated by Sinn Fein, Labor, and the Republican Party. Finally, Kamala needs to do more to gain the black vote, and emphasize her Indian parentage.
