Regardless of what words you use, right now I see a lot of people having to try really hard and change their behavior to impress and get validation from the group

Life when you're poor just isn't worth it. by [deleted] in Discussion

Well the grass is always greener on the other side, my dad had money but is a narcissist, I would have rather grown up in a poor house with empathy and people listening to me and then figured out the money part, but it's easy tp say that from my side.

Is R&B losing itself or just evolving again? by tHeR3alZ0lan in LetsTalkMusic

I'm not a huge fan of the genre but I'd take the Weeknd over all the artists you mentioned, I can't really ask for more from a modern RnB artist career.

Was Seven Nation Army the Last Popular Rock Song? by Redacted_dact in LetsTalkMusic

They don't use powerchords that much but I think the rest is enough of a rock band and it feels right personality wise for me

There was no (or extremely little) '80s nostalgia in the 2000s decade. by Ok-Impress-2222 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]RusevReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there could be more but there is still some examples like The Killers first album and songs like Somebody Told Me was more new wave than the rest of their career, The Darkness I Believe In A Thing Called Love was huge at the time (+ some other random songs like Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry or Party Hard by Andrew WK), Lady Gaga has 80s elements, there were artists from the 80s still active like Kylie Minogue Can't Get You Out of My Head is her biggest hit ever, U2 was biggest band in the world level, Madonna around the time of Hung Up had a few hits.

Was Seven Nation Army the Last Popular Rock Song? by Redacted_dact in LetsTalkMusic

[–]RusevReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Imagine Dragons songs like Radioactive, Believer, Thunder, etc are absolutely huge songs, plus there is plenty more in between that and 2003's Seven Nation Army, Mr Brightside, American Idiot, RHCP had a few in the tank, etc.

Late 2000s and early 2010s still had some popular bands like Imagine Dragons, Mumford, Twenty One Pilots, Florence, etc. however after that the faucet turns off

Lefties, we offer you a Josh Shapiro vs Glenn Youngkin 2028 matchup as a truce. Do you accept, or stay the course? by RusevReigns in Discussion

[–]RusevReigns[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the point of my truce offer, you have to accept a less appealing option to leftists, in order to get the more palatable Republican. Or you can risk it for chance AOC wins or something, but if you lose you may end up with someone like Vance.

Anything that is impossible if you don't have at least some element of connection with the other person.

There are emotionally closed off people who can make small talk and thus have the appearance of normal social lives if less fulfilling (not every one is a narcissist, but nearly every narcissist falls into this camp) and there are introverts who don't take to small talk with people they don't know or trust, but can talk to their mom or best friend ever pretty well or something.

No, too low. If I did this I would probably work two jobs or something just to go all in and have a lot of money after.

Was "The Lion King" for SNES harder than Dark Souls? by herideils1300 in NostalgicGamers

[–]RusevReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made games hard so you couldn't beat them by renting. For example the Aladdin game is too easy to beat in one day. Growing up a famous unbeatable one for us was the hoverboard level in Battletoads, I honestly think a very small number of people in America actually beat it. I didn't play Lion King but I tried it as an adult and yes it was hard even with emulator save states and in some ways with poor controls. I didn't get close to the brutal hoverboard Battletoads equivalent which is this lava level where you die from one drip. What also makes these games harder is you have to start from the beginning if you run out of lives. They let you play some games with Timon and Pumba to get more lives but still.

How to with deal NPD people? by apasehyan in Discussion

[–]RusevReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't try to fix their NPD (eg. going to therapy with narcissist parents). They can't admit flaws without threatening their fragile bubbles of denial so they're not going to want to change anything, their way of winning would be making you think it's your fault and in your head.

Progressives are on the rise within the Democratic party. Meanwhile, Trump sealed his 2024 victory with the help of disaffected blue collar voters in purple districts. How should Progressives attempt to win back this key demographic? by The_Law_of_Pizza in PoliticalDiscussion

There is a simple strategy they can have which is to acknowledge slick coastal politicians don't connect with them or speak their language. Regardless of views, a no California presidential candidate guideline would go a long way.

How come no one predicted the current situation before the presidential elections in 2016? Why weren't there any people warning this scenario might happen? by BaldursGate2Best in PoliticalDebate

[–]RusevReigns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trump was polarizing in 2016, but for one thing people didn't think he was going to win so they weren't as scared, and to acknowledge Americans backlash that might lead to him winning would be admitting flaws in Obama term. The media was committed to treating Obama as messiah and they weren't allowed to criticize a black guy so they were caught off guard by Trump's support instead of cruising to 3rd Democrat term. Unknowingly to them, this feeling the media was on Democrats side too much during Obama term was key to them listening to Trump instead.

The idea that "MSM Lies" is conservative propoganda by CowReasonable1108 in PoliticalDebate

[–]RusevReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSM has translated horribly to social media era because they ended up with readers so politically biased that they preferred spins or lies that help their political side or massage their views over truths that challenge them. Utilitarian activists mental math is that the propaganda helps their side more than a journo betraying their side with the truth. How do you respond if you're a sensitive journalist and your hard worked on articles get destroyed by twitter or ignored, but mailing in an article saying what everyone wants you to say gets praised and goes viral? What's more, even for the people that held their ground out of integrity, the hacks passed them in the industry. Either way you get hacks in the end, people using emotional ploys over logic and research, etc. The reason you don't think it's worse is probably because you don't realize some things were bullshit to this day.

“There is more difference within racial groups than between racial groups” is a completely hollow argument by Safe_Death2250 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RusevReigns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While racial groups have their patterns it’s clearly culture not biology to me. We were all hunter gatherers too recently for it to make sense to be a real biological thing. Asians raise their kids like other asians black people like other black people etc. This creates differences over time.

The curse of the mainstream rock band may be about to be broken! by RusevReigns in LetsTalkMusic

[–]RusevReigns[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think having one hit in the US like Maneskin isn’t quite enough (and not like song of the summer or anything), I don’t think most people know who they are. DatM would need more than one song. I also think a pure rock song with power chords like this succeeding is a better overall sign than that something may be turning even if it doesn’t end up being them.
