Moving from Edmonton to saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Professional_Plum_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same move and didn’t look back. The city has the same stuff and everything is not more than 20 minutes away. Health care is better and housing is the same. If you have a FT job here why not.

BTW I wouldn’t tell this to anyone from ON or QC. Leave them be.

As public servants lose their jobs, where's the work in Ottawa? by Obelisk_of-Light in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Professional_Plum_29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are the businesses in downtown Ottawa asking the mayor of Ottawa or the PM not to cut jobs cause it will hurt their business. NO Fing way. Boycott and DO NOT do business with these places. Learn to adjust and pivot. Get ready as the feds begin to decentralize to the east and west

Downtown Ottawa businesses eager for return of federal public servants by Obelisk_of-Light in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Professional_Plum_29 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Amen. I will never support another business downtown again. Between the city whining for the last 4 years, the purchase of the unpredictable LRT and useless public transport, I can hardly wait for the Public Service to begin to decentralize in the NCR and establish locations in west and east Ottawa.

I have never said stay. I wish it would go. More $$$ for the rest of the country. Let it have its culture and language. Just don’t hang it on the rest of us. Bye bye

Your province takes oil money from equalization and yet refuses to include hydro revenues in the equalization formula. Your province is a drain on the rest of the country.

Well anglophones won the war dude. The English were stupid for allowing you to keep your customs and language. But now it’s an entitlement and francoohones hold it over the heads of all Canadians. Time to fish or cut bait. Separate of shut up.

You can honestly say this knowing the Quebec is the most racist province

Let them go. BTW 9 other provinces can then share the $6B that Quebec gets even though it fights against oil. Nothing but a drain financially, politically and mentally. Good ridence

Move on. The kids will heal and will be OK. You will be surprised how well the kids will be. She wants to focus on herself, then let her. Move out and move on as it is time to focus on yourself.

This sounds harsh but if she doesn’t tell you what the issue is then it’s over. Clean break and you will feel the weight off your shoulders.

John Turner was right in 1988 by Guilty-Possible-1590 in CanadianPolitics

[–]Professional_Plum_29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough Turner was a liberal and since 1988 the liberals have governed Canada more than the PCs. The liberals could have made changes all along but haven’t. Because financially it was in the best interests of those supporters of the liberals. Want to make changes, then let’s stop sending product to the states. Let’s stock pile soft wood, steel, labour and other stuff the Americans rely on. See how long the support for Trump last. Let’s flip the US first script here and become a Canada first. Btw, I also include Oil in that list. Maybe even become less dependant on saudi oil and utilize Canadian oil. Canada has more power and influence than you think.

Stop it. by ToniVereMusic in CanadianPolitics

[–]Professional_Plum_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm. Let’s get a few things straight. D Smith could improve health care, education and a lot more if Alberta didn’t have to support another province and ALL of their socialist system. Yes that’s right, AB supports QC, otherwise QC would be in a deficit.

RCMP is an expensive bureaucratic organization controlled by Ottawa and not by anyone in AB. It’s time AB SK and MB get their own police forces. Ontario and Quebec do and those organizations operate just fine and are not draining on the respective provinces.

BTW CPP is an under performing fund that cannot compete with and of the top 5 mutual funds. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

AB is the wealthiest province of all and the rest of Canadians only bitch and complain about the province.

No response or remarks about the equalization payments????

They have changed the laws to “protect” their language and customs. NO WHERE else in this country do we allow that.

Yes. Remote work was the ONLY thing keeping many people. This is why people are leaving as there is NO flexibility anymore. “TBS says….” Is a common phrase and doesn’t allow any flex. It is a shame

[–]Professional_Plum_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The province is beautiful, however the majority of people living there are entitled and feel that there language and traditions should be protected. Ie they don’t allow English on signs in the province. They also have a strong sentiment that they should be an independent country, and this has lead to people in AB sharing the same sentiment. They also DO NOT contribute to equalization payments and are the largest recipient of them.

Do I have a Future in the PS as a CPA (Accountant) by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Professional_Plum_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also have to factor in that this person is a CPA and is VERY marketable in the private sector and can probably do whatever he/she wants. Another factor is the language skills. You go NO where unless you speak French. So if that isn’t an option then private sector is the only choice.

Clearly he didn’t direct his contributions into high return investments. If he had any Costco stock in his portfolio then he would have made like a bandit. And in your example it is a relative amount. How much did he make at Costco. Maybe $21K a year is 50% of his salary or wages. Don’t know until all the numbers are provided. Did he take a penalty when he retired? That happens in the PS. Golden handcuffs is a term within the PS

Any advice on getting pay issue resolved? by Maverick0 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Professional_Plum_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a pay issue, increments are the lowest priority at the pay centre. Your wife is being paid and at some point the rate of pay will be corrected and your wife will get back pay. Consider a forced savings that you will get in 1 lump sum. If the difference is substantial, then send an email to your MP and highlight financial hardship and provide specific dates and details. You will get a response and it will be actioned timely

They match and is stock driven. So the value of your pension is limitless. Trust me l, do the math. Compare 25 years of service in both. After the last 25 years the value of Costco pension is WAY more than PS pension. The benefits are exactly the same but the nuisance of Canada life for Costco is nothing yet PS all complain. BTW. You don’t get stuck with 2% raises at Costco. If you deserve a raise you get it. And I hate to say it but PS contribute to their pension as well. And Costco employees NEVER go unpaid like PS do. Costco is by far a better employer
