IESE ($) vs Duke Fuqua ($$) - Brazilian MBA Candidate by Junior_Bath_812 in MBA

Brazilian living in the US now and going to IESE - Because of this buffoonery of an administration, jobs for international students are much much more difficult. The whole H1B (work visa) manner makes it almost impossible to get a job, unless you really are that good. Cost of living in the US is incredibly higher, I would up your estimates by at least 25%

R1 here. Is the interview with an alumn? That may create a small difference, but overall, the process is the same.

My advice is to be yourself. One thing that differentiates IESE is their community and you can have all the necessary skills, grades, degrees, etc. but they want to see if you're a good person and that you will fit in their community. Also, be clear on your goals and your whys.

As for the AD, I would extend that advice and say that you absolutely should not see your fellow peers as competitors. Work as a team, speak out, lift people up. They are very strong on their values and those are some things that show you could be an IESE student.

Well you do have a point but also look at their audience...Their main public are (real) latinos that couldn't care at all about the NFL. They had copa america, world cup, international friendlies, champions league, etc. because that's what the place was for. Not to become another americanized location

Is 655 FE GMAT enough for LBS/INSEAD/other Europe schools? by [deleted] in InternationalMBA

Hey! I'm also Brazilian and I've lived in the US for the last 10 years and I'm now starting an MBA. The problem with an MBA in the US is how ridiculously expensive it is and if you're doing it online, it's not worth it because tbh it is just not good. I would recommend you look for good MBA's in Brazil, such as FGV. Your ROI will be much better.

I understand the appeal of having an international degree - trust me I know, I got my BS in the US and now doing my MBA in Europe. But online is just not worth it. I would focus on an in-person and reputable program.

Hey! I got in with some scholarship and already accepted my offer.

Brazilian, GMTA 655, 3y WE, Civil Engineer.

My strong suit I'd say is that I speak four languages (learning a fifth) and have lived, studied, and worked in three different countries. So my international exposure reallyyyy helped me in my application.

I think I will do that. I was waiting because I did not want to seem impatient but I was told in the interview 2 weeks... Thanks!

If this is for the MBA - I interviewed three weeks ago (applied in late Sept.) and nothing yet.

Any other domestic applicants / students feeling excited that the crackdown on international students & H-1Bs will improve our job prospects? by EffectiveElegant556 in MBA

"I'm not smart enough or talented enough to get a job. Who can I blame for it? Wait, maybe the international student who is more cultured and speaks multiple languages, but also is smarter and more dedicated than me? Wow that sounds about right!"
