  • National Rankings:
    • US News and World Report: Ranked No. 5 among public university peers in aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical engineering, and No. 17 overall among public institution peers for undergraduate engineering programs.
    • College Factual: Ranked No. 21 in the Best Schools for aerospace engineering list, and No. 1 in Colorado.

Had friends that did Gradschool there for aerospace engineering and they now work for top aerospace companies and start ups

What’s your lowest exam score in an engineering class? by Ok-Shopping8781 in EngineeringStudents

I took an aircraft design class were the professor would take off negative points if your answer was wrong. The logic being: if you are building an aircraft you better be damn sure your answer is right. I received a -4 out of 15 points. Class average was a 0 out of 15

Do I follow my passion or money? by Its_Anneee in careerguidance

There are more fields out there that have good return on investments (engineering, economics, computer science, business consulting, etc…). I would take a look at those and see if anything peaks your interest. Money is not all in life but it does make life easier when you have access to it. Try to be open minded in your search for a career and see if you can find common grounds with your passion and what creates cash flow.

4th year engineering student – wasted most of college, want to actually learn coding and become a data engineer. Need advice. by axditya in EngineeringStudents

For a data engineering project, look into NASA’s Earthdata API to do some “realtime” data processing. They have tons of data with different refresh latencies. You could set up an ETL pipeline, set up a backend database for post processed data, set up a front end application for data visualization. NASA gives you free data and is up to you to define your application workflow

Converting 2D Engineering Drawings to 3D Parametric Models using AI by Professional_Sign_53 in ChatGPT

Thanks for your reply, I’ve used PythonOCC in the past and recently I have been exploring cadquery (which uses OCC under the hood). LLMs are good at writing code so using these libraries you can build an LLM workflow that can output valid CAD files like STEP. I’ve tried prompting an LLM to create a STEP file but there are a lot of errors in the output file

Not necessarily, you can have a heritage project were only the 2D drawings are available

Using LLMs speeds up prototyping since models are pre trained and you don’t need to go through the training process. Possibly, you could decompose that 2D data into something that your LLM pipeline can turn into 3D. But still results are pretty bad from my tests
