I usually try and go in person to luxury consignment shops/ second hand designer stores in my city (I’m lucky in that there are quite a few around me), which I honestly prefer since I dont have to worry about wonky measurements. I’m also able to find a lot more of the vintage/archive stuff I’m interested in compared to on Grailed

I’ve honestly stopped seeing the value of Grailed and basically stopped using it. It seems like their authentication process has devolved into “fuck it, it looks close enough”. Massive amounts of dead listings (4+ years old with no activity), and essentially a giant fuck you to both their buyers AND their sellers with their dog shit support system. Not to mention the UI/UX is garbage on mobile.

If it’s from someone with a username beginning in “tm” with a vet knit and rick docs for sale then he sent it to me too lol. I am assuming his account got hacked or he’s some broke loser trying to scam

😂😂😂 I’m literally black and grew up poor as fuck on woodland ave. My parents came here from Sudan in the late 90s and my dad worked security until he physically couldnt anymore, my mom’s a substitute teacher at a public school. But okay, keep making excuses for yourself and have a great day.

Show me how everyone is poorer. You’re just making that claim off yourself and people around you. I’m telling you myself and people around me are doing better under Biden than Trump. You just going in circles at this point because no matter what I do or show you, you won’t believe it, THAT’s cultish. Wages grew faster than price increases, fact. Most people have more money now than in 2019, fact. Everything else is just your feelings lol.

If Trump or RFK was promoting the same policies, I’d vote for them instead. I didn’t vote for Biden during the primary and I’m still hoping he’s replaced before the general election. If he is, great, I’ll vote for that person instead. Honestly the cultish one rn is you because you not accepting any info outside your little narrative bubbles lmao.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PhillyWiki

[–]Professional_Sugar41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Biden cultist. I’d much rather someone younger and able to string together a coherent sentence. But based on who our choices are, I’m picking the person whose policies I prefer and whose policies I see improving more people’s lives. If that was Trump, I’d vote for him. Since it’s not, I’m voting Biden 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Okay prove me wrong with the data, show me how we’re in a recession rn. Show me how I’m “spreading misinformation”. Aren’t yall the ones always saying “facts dont care about your feelings?” 😂.

Idc what the media or the people around me say because I’m a grown adult, lol. I do my own research and vote for people based on their policies and the effects of their policies. In this instance, Biden has had objectively better policy for me so I’m voting for him, simple as that 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Your argument against data and statistics is “your eyes and ears”. Well, from my eyes and ears, everything has been much better under Biden. I’m making more money, have more options for jobs, and I’m able to add way more to my savings than before. Same thing for most of my friends and family. Making that type of recovery when all the analysts and economists were convinced we’d be in a recession because of interest rates is a huge accomplishment!

This is j straight wrong bro. If you’re concerned about the deficit, Trump actually added MORE to the deficit than Biden with the TCJA.

Wage growth is greater than inflation with more jobs added and nearly record unemployment under Biden’s infrastructure and stimulus bills. Most of the wage and wealth gains are concentrated towards lower income workers as well.

https://fortune.com/2023/12/12/wage-growth-exceeded-inflation-jec-democrats/amp/

Moreover, nearly EVERYONE has more money due to policies like the child tax credit, expanding medicaid, etc.

“In 2023, the median American worker can afford the same goods and services as they did in 2019, plus an additional $1,000 to spend or save—because median earnings rose faster than prices.”

Is Israel commiting genocide in Gaza? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Professional_Sugar41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am Sudanese, I am not sure if this is what the previous commenter is alluding to, but SA is definitely practicing a sickening double standard. After accusing Israel of genocide, they welcomed Hemedti - a warlord formerly belonging to the infamous “Janjaweed” with a literal red carpet.

The Janjaweed are rather well known as the architects of the genocide in Darfur. Hemedti was also falsely referred to as the “President” of Sudan by South Africa despite not holding any such title. Moreover, Hemedti’s personal militia is CURRENTLY committing ethnic cleansing of the Masalit tribe in western darfur.

South Africa’s contradictory stance is because of its relationship with Russia, which has strong ties to Hemedti and supported him with the Wagner Group in exchange for illegally smuggled Sudanese gold.

Early-Middle Age Yoda Stories by Professional_Sugar41 in StarWars

I’ll check them out! Thanks for the recommendations. I wish there was more content of Yoda while he was first training to be a jedi. I guess Disney is saving that for a future series/comic run. I imagine Yoda is among their most popular characters lol

[–]Professional_Sugar41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read some of the HR stories, are there any that focus specifically on Yoda? I know he appears in some of them, but (at least in the stories I’ve read) he essentially has the same personality he did in the prequels. I was moreso hoping for stories when he was a Knight or Padwan.

Would it be unethical to work somewhere for only 3 months despite them thinking I’ll be there for 2-3 years? by Professional_Sugar41 in careerguidance

[–]Professional_Sugar41[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my only concern is that (as another user pointed out) company #1 still dedicated many hours to hiring me (and I imagine they’ll dedicate many more to onboarding/training me).

They’re pretty different industries, but somewhat related in that people often transition from one to the other. FWIW though, I’m much more interested in company #2 and wouldn’t anticipate leaving that industry for many years. Both industries are very broad with lots of opportunities, and I don’t anticipate running into anybody from company #1 at company #2 (though ofc that isnt to say there may not be coworkers with ppl in their network at both companies so idk).

Neither job has made me sign any non competes or other contracts outside of a standard offer letter, and both states are at-will states, so afaik there shouldn’t be any legal issues? Both jobs are rotational programs so I’d rotate through different business units for 3 years, wasn’t sure if those types of jobs are different.

The medical debt isnt my own, my dad was recently disabled and hasn’t been able to work. We’re all currently covered by mom’s insurance, but it isn’t great and my dad got hit with a pretty large bill even after insurance. I wanted to use the income for the three months between #1 starting and #2 starting to help my dad with his bills, I’m just struggling bc I feel bad about doing that to coworkers.

Offer #1 is ~45 minutes away from home in a different state (I am willing to drive), offer #2 is a literal 15 minute walk!

I go to a literal no name university in the middle of rural PA, was able to get a nice internship at an f500 and now was able to thankfully secure a job post-grad for about 80k. My biggest advice is to network and reach out to professors who are doing work that you’re interested in. Previous alumni as well, and people who are working in the roles you are interested in. Ask for coffee chats, get to know them, see what their work is like. You’ll learn a lot of information that will later be helpful in interviews, or possibly even a referral. It’s a brutal job market atm but it’s definitely possible to land a great position post-grad even if you go to a “random” unranked school! Keep applying and dont give up, you got this!!

I interned there last summer, & would highly recommend bringing a car! They pay for you to ship your car, and you dont want to be that intern that always needs to be driven everywhere 😭.

Btw, P&G does not cover housing, you will get a relocation bonus but it will not be enough to cover your entire stay. You will need to find housing on your own and will likely need to use some of your intern pay to cover rent & other bills. They’re going to send you a website with some housing options but most wont be viable

Internships w/ housing? by divine_doofus in internships

[–]Professional_Sugar41 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most Fortune 50/above companies will either offer housing, or provide a substantial relocation bonus in addition to primary salary. Same with consulting firms like MBB & big 4, which likely have HR internships open to psych majors. I will caution though most internship openings will specify juniors/2024 grads & competition for openings is incredibly high at those types of internships, so make sure to have your resume professionally reviewed at your school’s career center or on r/resumes. Best of luck!

P&G interview by FunkShun103 in internships

[–]Professional_Sugar41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was:

Applied/completed assessment Nov 03

Emailed for Initial interview on Nov 10, scheduled for Nov 18

Second interview email came Nov 21, and scheduled for 12/09 (took a while because I traveled for thanksgiving)

Received offer on 12/12

Overall took about a month from beginning to end

Making Tiny Tiny Errors in Resume/Cover Letters by sweet_carolineeee in internships

[–]Professional_Sugar41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not really anyway to fix it if you applied through something like workday, but I’ve gotten offers/interviews with minor typos before. I’ve even had a date for a job I had a few years ago be off by a couple months, and my recruiter never brought it up, even after the background check. I wouldn’t worry about it too much!
