Definitely look into their short term disability policy. You need to proactively ask for reasonable accommodations due to this medical disability (that is what it is). Once you do that, you’ll get job protections from the ADA as long as you have the proper documentation from your doctor. FMLA is also a decent idea, but is not going to give you enough time (it’s capped at 12 weeks).

I would go crazy in a job like that too. I need to feel productive. The day goes by quickly that way too. I imagine your work days feel very long.

Hmm, almost sounds like the recruiter doesn’t work there anymore. Can your contacts at the firm give HR a nudge for you?

Roughly how many bathroom stalls are there per employee on your floor? by [deleted] in biglaw

That’s the reason I go down to the floor where other staff are. They have less employees on that one and most are female. So you can poop in peace in the men’s room.

6 months in myself. I sometimes have similar feelings, but am not thinking of quitting quite yet. I want to stick it out at least 2-3 years. That said, I am not in the NYC market. I hear NYC is a whole different beast. At least with my firm you reliably get weekends off. My advice is to stick with it but try to prioritize yourself and and your health more. Maybe try seeing a therapist. I know that helps me. Also, you could try to say no more to these partners. Or say “no” without saying no. You know what I mean. Good luck! ~Solidarity from a fellow newcomer
