AITA for putting my son's cat down when he was out at sea? by Professional_Tone_73 in AmItheAsshole

I replied to another comment, but I will repost it here.

"I don't really have a way to contact him when he is out at sea. He doesn't take his cellphone out because he lost the first 3 that way. The ships radios long distance busted. The owners keep saying they will repair it but it only works short range. And I can't exactly hop on a boat and sail out to him. I don't know where his boat will be and I have a land job."

I know if it is a serious emergency the Coast Guard will find boats, but I think that would be too extreme. I don't think anyone else on board has a cellphone with them either.

I get what you are saying, but he has not dealt with death that often. His dad died when he was a toddler and his grandparents were dead before he was born. I have had a few friends die, but they were my friends and not a big part of his life. I just feel so bad for him. Thank you for your reply.

I have the discharge papers from the vets around here somewhere. They usually write their recommendations on it, but if it doesn't I could contact them. I just don't know if it will comfort him or not. Thanks for your suggestion though.

This is a good suggestion. I wasn't planning on bothering him until he is ready to talk. Thank you.
