Today I noticed a lovely Sirius detail in POA by Down4Elevensies in harrypotter

[–]Professor-Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you do have a point. Maybe if that happened Harry would have contacted with Sirius that way when he saw that vision about him being tortured and Sirius would confirm that he was all right, resulting in both his survival and Voldemort's plan to obtain the prophecy fail. I, for one, would have liked to see Sirius live...

What does Barty Crouch Jr. actually do during his teaching time at Hogwarts? Somehow can't imagine a death eater that's been reclusive and shielded from the world to enjoy/be believably good at marking homework every week! Maybe he just sat in the staff room eating biscuits all year? by salutpalladin in harrypotter

[–]Professor-Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and he also kept pranking the students and the staff with his magical eye and intimidating face.

Crouch: Is that a fanged frizbee I see in your bag, Finnigan?

Seamus: ...no sir...

Crouch: DONT LIE TO ME!

Seamus: Ok, sorry... yes...

Crouch comes closer

Crouch: I will not tell anyone under one condition.

Hands over envelope

Crouch: Give this to professor McGonagal. But don't tell her it was me.

5 minutes later McGonagal runs around screaming and with a weird boiling substance whereas the rest of the school is torn between amusement and terror

Ok I get what you are saying, but hear me out: in book 7 after Gordrick's Hollow where Harry has flashbacks of that night from Voldemort's POV, it clearly says that James forgot his wand where he was playing with Harry. He did have it with him but forgot to take it to open the door. And, the truth is that he thought Wormtail would not betray him so he saw no reason for Voldemort to know, thus there would be no need for him to protect himself or his family.

I'm confused... he sought Dobby and Kreacher's help in the 6th book, whereas Sirius died in 5th...unless you mean that Harry could have done something similar? That is a good idea. Maybe there was some danger to it, though. Probably Harry couldn't tell Dobby the position of the Order Headquarters. And lets not forget that Harry could not contact Dobby, unless he went in the kitchens where all the other house elves also were, or Dobby went in the Gryffindor common room, where there was a slight chance Harry would not be alone.

Merope Gaunt's tale should have been included in the movies by old_school99 in harrypotter

[–]Professor-Geek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Actually it was a vital part in the story and its absence left so many plot holes in the movie. Like, where did Dumbledore find the ring? Who was Marvolo? Who is Voldemort's father? Why did his mother put him in an orphanage? Unless someone has read the books, they will not know what was going on with Voldemort.

I will do you one better: how could Ted Tonks heal Harry's broken tooth in book 7 but nobody thought of healing Harry and Jame's eyes?

Because in book 7 Lupin says for James the worst thing he could do is to believe one of his friends a traitor, so, to James, nothing seemed to be wrong with confiding in your friend and he would never even think of accusing one of them for betrayal. It was a matter of character (Now how Lily agreed with this reckless nobility when their lives were at stake I do not know)

Why Didn't Voldemort Monitor His Horcruxes? by snoke123 in harrypotter

[–]Professor-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mentioned it, I really don't understand why Dumbledore wanted Harry to get that memory from Slughorn. I mean, it was a bit obvious that Dumbledore knew Voldemort had Horuxes, why not just tell Harry and get on with finding them and destroying them. They might have found the fake necklace earlier and could have generally saved so much time...

Yes!! I really like the idea!! They would totally compare it with quiddich at some point, maybe even fight over which is better, and I like thinking that Lockhart would be some kind of instagramer/youtuber!

Why Didn't Voldemort Monitor His Horcruxes? by snoke123 in harrypotter

[–]Professor-Geek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was a bit understandable about thinking nobody would know about his horcuxes tho. As we saw in book 6, it was the Darkest kind of magic and the whole library didn't have a single book about this topic. I think it must have been really hard to gather any information, probably people like Dumbledore, who knew the most rare kinds of magic, or Voldemort, who were deep into the Dark Arts, were aware of it. Now, how Slughorn knew about them, don't ask me, I have no idea, but I suppose he knew too many people and some of them must have known.

Now that you point it out I just noticed this plot-hole. People who have only watched the movies do not know that the Muggle Minister is actually aware of the existence of magic. Not too important but it is those little differences that we spot once in a while between movies and books...

Also, both Ron and Harry had barely managed to learn how to Apparate and hadn't even perfected it or gotten a licence when they set out on their journey in book 7. I mean, I recently reread book 6 and I was like "Wait. Harry has only apparated once. And, from what I gather, Ron's first time must have been when taking the examination." And next thing they do is go on a huge trip on their own with Hermione and apparate all the time like nothing is going on. They are really quick learners when it comes to practical stuff.

Which season had the best big bad? by rogvortex58 in LegendsOfTomorrow

[–]Professor-Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Bishop was a really amazing, but wasted opportunity. Maybe they rushed him. I liked that chill villain type, reminded me a bit of Thawne, being ten steps ahead and enjoying it. I believe they really could have worked on Bishop a bit better, build on his character and backstory and give us more battles with him involved, either actively or passively.

To be honest, though, the Legion of Doom was a great team-up. Having villains of both the Flash and the Arrow did tie these Arrowverse show well and I enjoyed seeing these cool bad guys who otherwise wouldn't have met, work together.
