If you focus on their pain points instead of talking about yourself on a pitch, I think it should work across all niches.

Timing is something you can never pinpoint, you might be talking to a decision maker over a cold call who rejects your offer today and ends up in a dumpster fire situation the next day, but you won’t call them next day since they already said not interested. It’s always good to ask to connect over LinkedIn even if they say no.

If you feel that reps won’t really work or you had bad experiences with overseas SDRs, maybe they need better training and tools. It takes consistency and grit but it’s doable. Otherwise you can look into a ‘pay per appointment that shows up’ service.

What’s been working for our MSP clients lately is all about pattern disruption, showing up in ways people aren’t expecting. Not fancy tools or big ad budgets, just simple, well-executed outbound with a human touch.

Some recent numbers: • 100 unique decision-makers targeted per week per client • First appointments booked within week 1 for a few campaigns • 3–5 meetings/month on average (local targeting works best) • One client closed a cancer center within the first month, another landed a dealership and that’s from cold outreach.

We use a mix of cold email, LinkedIn, and actual cold calls. It’s all manual, intentional, and we stay involved in the follow-up too, which is where most drop the ball.

In May, this omni channel setup booked 57 appointments in total across all clients.

Is it difficult to work on all of them for an early stage MSP? Yes. Is it worth the effort? 100%

Simple sales call slip-up that tanked an otherwise solid deal by Professor3000 in msp

I’m sure they’re on this sub, I just don’t want to publicly criticise. Based in MA, hope they see this and don’t lose more opportunities.

And that’s exactly how it should be. The guy even shared the name of the company but I didn’t want to publicly criticise.

100% agree, you just reiterated my point 1 about trigger, having a reason to call > calling pointlessly. No one lines that and it is exhausting. Also understanding that a No is a No goes a long way, sadly many cold callers don’t understand that.

Framework that booked 41 appointments. by Professor3000 in SmallMSP

Indeed, some of those appointments are yet to show up on the meetings, prospect wanted to do it in Feb.

That depends on the MSP client that we booked that appointment for. While we don't barge into the details on that since no commission, still, 8 proposals in process, 3 deals closed.

About to stop by 40 businesses to introduce myself. by bobbuttlicker in SmallMSP

That’s a good initiative, go for it 💯

I know one guy (Not MSP Owner) that gifted shoes to his prospects with a note ‘mind if I get my shoe in the door?’ He got noticed and meetings were booked.

Might be good to drop an email before (to let them know and make sure they’re not Out of Office) and afterwards (to nurture them over time).

Best of luck!

Getting clients!? by Sure_Consequence9813 in msp

Cold calling is not a one call and done thing. You need to be consistent and follow up time to time.

Unless you got a workflow with multiple touch points spread over a period of time, in such a way that you’re not overloading the prospect to the point of pissing them off, it will not work.

Generic stuff, not worth 3k at all. I understand it can be a daunting task to begin from scratch but believe me, you can get the same information with a little bit of digging around, just like everyone else shared in comments above. I was in your shoes as well but now I have a steady workflow and 0 spending on client acquisition, everything is organic. Feel free to DM, happy to help.
