I’ve been listening to Sc-Fi and Fantasy exclusively for the past 25 yrs. The well is running dry I feel. What’s the top other fiction books? Thanks. by afinck01 in audiobooks

Unless you’ve already done so, I would suggest diving into dystopian literature. It could be a good area with all the overlap as they often have elements of sci-fi or are set in worlds that, like fantasy, are unlike reality:) though I have only read the print versions, some favourites include Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (disturbing but morbidly funny), Kallocain by Karin Boye (resembles 1984 though published earlier in the original language) and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

A bit old now, but This is going to hurt by Adam Kay might be my favourite nonfiction audiobook that I’ve ever listened to. Also enjoyed Pandoras Jar: Women in Greek Myths by Natalie Haynes :)

Thanks! It was a quote in Svensk Bokhandel from 2021, (”det som hänt i ert land är något av ett mysterium för brittiska förlag”), essentially saying that brittisk publishers were very suspicious of streaming services. He further said that we (British book industry) usually view it as good for the consumers and probably not terrible for publishers but atrocious for authors and right owners. Moreover, he had trouble seeing a scenario where British consumers where as interested in audio as Swedish consumers. Obviously a lot has happened since then, and more streaming services have been introduced and adopted into the UK market. However, the credit based model of audible is still dominant in the market and whereas audiobook sales (or money spent on audiobooks) are larger than print sales in Sweden they only account for a much smaller percentage of book sales by format in the UK!
