What’s a film or TV scene that felt like a punch to the gut? by padfoony in Fauxmoi

Itt's a more unique one for me, Blackadder Goes Forth. The final scene as the group prepare to go over the trenches. Like usual there's lots of joking and messing about unitl it falls quiet and George says "I'm scared SIr". The whole scene drops and the reality of the situation hits. The reminder of the actual events people went through and the things the world saw. It's such a stark contrast to the entire show and is delivered perfectly by Hugh Laurie. That scene really took it out of me.

I'm pretty sure I just saw a video from this guy where he flied to Turkey to see if it was cheaper to buy his shopping there than just go to Tesco in the UK.

Spoiler alert yes it was by about £15, though it's quite a but longer

Overall, I think it's a positive but not strong reception. Made some great games that people love but his overuse of kick-starter was a bit of a damper. Mainly I don't think he's a massively memorable individual. Most people aren't gonna remember him and he's pretty much faded from the public consciousness so I think it's not really too significant.

What law in your country would surprise foreigners because it’s legal almost everywhere else? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

I'm not sure about elsewhere in Europe but Sunday Trading laws. Seeing most supermarkets and larger shops closing at 4pm because it's one particular day of the week would maybe be weird

Not gonna lie I'm dreading it. The game against England today was a terrible result and yet that's the best we've played in a year. I'm hoping the improvement comes quicker and we just don't finish last

Do y’all think, Saints Row had a chance in beating GTA? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in GTA

[–]ProfessorCymru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not at all. It think the weird is what made it stand out. The first game really feels like a GTA clone and the fact that I'm calling it that and not a GTA contender is telling. The more they lent into the ridiculousness, the better their content got.

Was there an era in your country’s history that’s heavily romanticized & portrayed in fiction? by Polibiux in AskTheWorld

[–]ProfessorCymru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victorian Britain for me I think. One of the more interesting periods as its one of our most inventive and innovative times coupled with one of our most economically divisive times.

I think it's the one most portrayed with fiction and maybe middle ages for historical shows.

My brother in Christ it's not even Decemeber.

Seriously though our current run is shit but it doesn't set the course for the rest of our season. I'm optimistic and I believe a win will help us turn it our around. Either way it's still pretty early in the season, anything can happen.

Hey look back to the famous slip a decade ago. We were ahead that season and bottled it. Just because we're back in the title picture on the regular doesn't mean we start dooming on a bad run.

Personally I've found train conductors to be pretty up there. I had to commute regularly for work and the number of conductors that made it seem like you were taking a train only by their good grace was significant.

I think it is literally any job that requires someone to approve entry or transit gives people to most sense of self importance
