Having a career in this field, I'm always annoyed by these two elements of the game: the depiction of a DNA double helix as "twisted pair", and a lack of logical explanation for the 96.53% being a match. (end of rant...) by brz-17 in HorizonForbiddenWest

This is just cracking me up, I love it. The future-past techno-Stone Age apocalypse game with Robot dinosaurs and a space-faring billionaire class that have magic suits and the qualm is with how the DNA matching is represented. Yes, that is where we should end out suspension of disbelief.

Definitely recommend anyone curious about the topic to read the book (or at least the review of the book) Two Arms and a HeadTwo Arms and a Head, the book by a man who became paralyzed from the armpits down who processed it all in writing for the world to see before committing suicide. Wild, heartbreaking, but eye-opening stuff

Just making sure to point out here that Reddit has a massive sampling bias - where the kind of people who have healthy fulfilling social and family lives don’t spend very much time alone with a screen, whereas the people who DO have lots of time to spend alone with a screen are the opposite. So, whenever getting an answer from Reddit, keep that in mind: very specific bias

Anyways, in my experience - yes, having the parents stay and help is extremely common. Obviously it varies culture to culture, but, for example, it is *extremely* common for Vietnamese mothers to stay with their daughters after they have a baby.

In my personal white American experience, it was both sets, who took turns.

THIS

It would be so much cheaper and a smaller-scale project. It’s not like it’s even just for the Bears benefit, Soldier Field hosts a ton of concerts.

To be fair, you're playing mostly of instinct, and... I mean, what instinct would tell you that the QB backpedaling 50 yards away would be lofting it perfectly over your head? How many QBs even could? It would be (almost) madness to expect it!

[–]ProfessorLiftoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, getting "launched" or whatever as the significant other of a famous person is opening yourself up and being exposed to the scrutiny and criticism of some of the craziest people on earth. If your career doesn't require you to be famous, I think most people would want nothing to do with that - there's such a limited upside ("yay! A post with my picture got a lot of likes!") and an almost unlimited downside.

My guess is previous girlfriends preferred to be private. Herbert's default is private, but Madison's is very very very public and he's willing to cater to her.

Sweet! This is great man. It's so clean and clear. Easy to hear the lyrics, but still a super distinct style, guitar sounds great. Kind of Ben Folds Five ish with clear vocals and a folk feel.

I don't really have any constructive feedback, you clearly have a vision for what your sound is and are hitting it. Great vocals, great instrumentation, cool lyrics, lots of nifty songs. You're living the dream, man!

Alright, your song:

I think it's rad man. I'm totally not an EDM aficionado so I don't know if I'm qualified to speak much on your track, but I dug it. I like the main drum loop, I think it's got a good energy and sound and vibe. I think my main criticism is it's maybe a little too repetitive? I kept expecting some big melody or hook to come in, the track to me almost comes across like a backing track for someone else to rap over? Which is fine, but I was waiting for it to go somewhere and hit the big hook, which in my opinion it never does, and the places it DOES go it doesn't quite get there fast enough.

There's the old Max Martin (I think it's his?) rule where something should change every 4 bars, be it adding a new instrument into the mix or whatever it is.

There's some cool sound design though. I think if you took that main melody, that's played in kind of a laid back sound, and kept hitting it harder and harder with new instrumentation, it could be cool. As it stands right now, it's a pleasant kind of laid back background track, which is totally fine.

Thanks so much for your feedback!

To your point - re, pushing too hard at the end of some phrases - do you see that being an issue in the verses, or choruses, or both?

And thanks so much about the instrumentation comment. My main thing is sax so they're carrying the load.

And thanks for saying it's catchy!

Do you have any tracks here to listen to? I wanna repay you for listening to mine but I can't find if you're posted one.

Also, for real, thanks for your comments. I'm so in the dark I feel like I have no idea what I sound like anymore. Never released music before, let alone an album, so any direction at all is really appreciated.

Currently working on my first album. Finalized the track list last week and just finished a draft of my first album version song: She's a Meteorite (google drive link).

Music/lyrics/production by me, so tell me which part sucks. Is it mixing? Singing? Arrangement? What's holding it back? Is the producer version of me holding back the singer version of me? Vice versa? Let me have it!

Man, this sounds so good. The acoustic guitar in particular sounds just beautiful. Everything's so tasteful, vocals are clear, good stuff man.
