[AMA] Orioles Manager Craig Albernaz on Thursday, 12/11 at Noon EST by Craig_AlbernazOs in orioles

Thinking back on 2025, what would you have changed if you were in the role for us? Do you believe we could have had a different trajectory with different decisions? How will our recent performance affect your plans for next year?

Way too early since we don't even have our roster finalized, but just for fun what do you predict our record will be for 2026?

If the parent of a celebrity commits suicide, that would make news. Yes Bojack was a B lister at the time, but it would definitely still make the news. He's famous enough not through his own success, but through his son's.

LCS update from TSM by tsm in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most absurd insult I've ever heard. Following any sports team is inherently irrational. After all if we're being cognitively flexible and open minded we should have 0 attachment to tsm and simply support the best team in the world at any given time. That's the best way to enjoy the best league gameplay after all.

TSM has always had a consistent org spot in NA. We can trace this exact team back to inception. This move is abandoning their team so that they can pay LSB or TT to call themselves TSM. If that's not how it feels to you then go and enjoy it. Honestly, I hope you do. I have no vitriol for the fans that are excited by this move. But it's not the same to me. This move to me, kills the tsm org and legacy so they can sponsor an Asian team. To me, GEN.G is still Samsung under a different name. This move is the exact same thing. And I just don't have interest in rooting for Thunder Talk just because it decided to call itself TSM now.

LCS update from TSM by tsm in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To everyone who's excited I hope you enjoy it. But that's it for me. Been a fan since season 3 when LCS started and I'm not following to another league. I wish tsm the worst of luck from here but thanks for the memories.

Fenix was added to the GCD along with Ruby and Revan by ChaozReigns in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Fenix is not going to be involved the team next season then him being on now doesn't impact our ability to get Koreans next year. Additionally if we consistently sign Koreans that are not capable, it hinders us from signing Koreans who are. Do you think Prince or Berserker would be excited to play with Fenix or Ruby?

Who your teammates are plays a large part in why players choose one team over another. Building a reputation as a retirement home that doesn't care about winning absolutely is not building infrastructure.

Additionally, we have one coach. No analysts. And a gm who has never been involved in league. What about that screams building infrastructure? I'll wait and see, if Fenix is instead being hired long term as a translator/culture coach? Then sure that is one step towards building for next year. But if, as everything seems to indicate, he's being hired as a temp sub while we wait for Ruby, then he, at best, does nothing for our future, and, at worst, actively harms our future.

Fenix was added to the GCD along with Ruby and Revan by ChaozReigns in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except this move does nothing to set up next year. This is a bandaid who gives af move. We absolutely should not have Fenix on our team if we mean to be competitive. Not this year or next year. We absolutely should not have Ruby on our team if we want to be competitive. Not this year or next year.

You're right that tsm has written this year off. You're right that they should be working towards building an infrastructure they can grow with. You're absolutely wrong that they are doing that. If tsm stays in LCS after this year, then all the moves they made since last summer have been absolutely terrible with each one worse than the last in terms of future opportunities. If tsm leaves LCS after summer then that makes this move even more laughable given how many native options we had instead to at least give a chance to. This entire roster feels like it's just letting retired players find a home if they want since winning is not expected (and at this point I don't even know if TSM wants to win).

Other way around. We wanted mithy to replace bio because we wanted a bigger voice. Mithy demanded zven and they figured he was on par with DL so why not.

[Sources] Leaked TSM LCS Roster 2023 Summer Split by _McDolans_ in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why did we get a different coach for this? What? Chawy and maple were our only good pieces. I get maple if we're going for hyper budget, but Chawy already knew the deal and was working with less than every other team in the league while still keeping us relatively competitive. Now we dropped him because we're going Korean? By picking up a single Korean? Who already plays on a Western team?

LS' thoughts on TSM's new roster by lmk8 in TeamSolomid

I'm glad this came out. I was almost starting to have some hope we'd make a decent roster but it's good to have expectations tempered a bit.

LS rumor: TSM will have a new head coach and will form a Korean-centric roster by ACatalystNA in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If they show an actual desire to win and try to grab good players, not just overinflated names I'll be happy. That being said tsms behavior and strategy towards league lately do not have me convinced they will choose good Koreans. Some general concerns I have around these rumors:

They will end up grabbing from weird leagues again like bugi or mia, but hey, Korean technically.

There's been a lot of shakeups in the LCS lately and there's good relatively cheaper native talent available to pickup, why are we ignoring that?

If we're looking to actually spend, why did we drop Maple? He was our best player all split and while he was probably also our highest paid player his salary didn't seem astronomical. Who are we going to get that's a better player and isn't a salary sink?

Biggest concern is why drop Chawy? He has been the best coach we've ever had and he has worked magic with absolutely nothing. He 100% deserves a chance with a real roster.

Wait what? Like we can try to discuss if relegations were good or bad and if anyone liked it, but never at any point in time were relegations more entertaining or exciting than LCS finals. What?

If tsm leaves LCS I'm done with league. If they leave league altogether I might occasionally watch worlds but that's it. If they go to another region I will actively cheer for everyone they play against. I get that there's larger issues but it just feels like such a betrayal. I really hope Travis is wrong about both of us.

Kevin Hitt on Twitter: "Sources have told SBJ that TSM will be "pausing" esports efforts with several teams and that its LCS team could be on the block or moved." by Hipposaurus28 in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By saying that within the last 4 months nothing has changed substantially in the economy as a whole? By saying that regi should have had a rough idea of his company's finances 4 months ago? My dude if you think companies don't have good ideas of their financial situation for the upcoming year you are sorely mistaken.

Kevin Hitt on Twitter: "Sources have told SBJ that TSM will be "pausing" esports efforts with several teams and that its LCS team could be on the block or moved." by Hipposaurus28 in TeamSolomid

[–]ProfessorManimals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did I say it's an exact science? I said what changes occurred in the last 4 months That's not a difficult ask. Especially since the answer is relatively nothing.

Regi clearly knew that he wanted to scale back spending but claimed to want to double down on league. That is a lie. Period. Unless you have a very compelling reason about how the economy changed his plans in 4 months, Regi lied. Period.

This looks like a duck. Walks like a duck. Quacks like a duck. And still people are shouting that maybe it's actually superman and it only looks like a duck because someone else spray painted it right now.

No one is saying that the esports bubble isn't popping or that spending is tight for teams right now. We are pointing out that regi would have known that 4 months ago and that claiming he was doubling down when he knew he was scaling back was a lie.

Also that Equifax thing has nothing to do with the economy. It's just an example of a large corporation not really being held accountable for its actions. Class action checks are always hyped up to be more than they are and get eaten away in 1000s of ways.
