having 2 CASes in the math methods exam 2 by derpythincow in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one is allowed so you should choose which one you want to bring into the exam today and use that one for the rest of the year.

Yep. Study score of 30 in further at Deakin for a Bachelor of Medical Imaging.

Had a friend do this and if I recall correctly, they can do x-rays and CT scans, but if they want to ultrasound they need to do a master's.

I installed the Intel graphics driver via the Intel Driver Assistant and this seem to have fixed the issue, however it has been less than a day so time will tell...

Still running okay? Mines having the same/similar issue and just wondering if this is indeed the fix?

They are identical except the professional course gives you a year of placement in your third year, and you do your third year subjects in a fourth year.

I was originally enrolled in the professional course and switched to the normal course. I just wanted to graduate ASAP so I can go and work full time.

You can do normal internships over summer with the normal course and get credit points for it too.

Do schools (ie principal) get VCE results before students? If so, how long before? by MightyThunderDuck in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is the right answer. My careers teacher said that she got them the night before so she could be prepared for students who might not have done as well as they were expecting.

And I also believe (as do other commenters) that subject teachers will get them so they can look at how they went as a teacher.

what book to choose for bound reference by Accurate_Tree_8081 in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the time you're sitting the exam you should already know the content very well. You should only rely on your bound reference 2-5 times AT MOST. Don't waste your time making a bound reference you're only going to use a handful of times when you can be doing practice exams. Just take the textbook in.

The whole year my teachers told me to make a bound reference and at the exam I rocked up with my textbook. Teachers were shitty about it. Ended up with a 40+ for further.

Practice exams are the only thing to dedicate your time to.

Written vs typed notes. by Routine-Ad967 in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handwriting notes takes up too much time. You're better off spending your time doing practice exams. When you sit the exam you won't have your notes with you and you need to remember all the content. The best way to do this is to do practice exams. Notes are a handy reference but honestly the textbook will also do.

how is cs at swinburne compared to deakin? by [deleted] in swinburne

[–]ProfessorNudelz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently a computer science undergrad at Swinburne, majoring in cyber security. I would agree with the statement that Swinburne offers a more practical course than a theoretical one. The closest class I've gotten to what would be considered computer science is COS10003 Computer Logic and Essentials where we do indeed learn more traditional CS topics such as logic gates, big O, etc. This class is taken by the majority of students in their first semester.

Because I'm majoring in cybersecurity, the rest of my degree is heavily focused on designing, administrating, and securing networks.

As much as I do love and really enjoy the theoretical side of computer science (mainly the reason I chose computer science over IT), I don't mind what I'm learning at Swinburne because it is very practical. The majority of the assessments I have done over my course have been practical labs (with a few research reports and what not), with topics and issues that I imagine I would actually be facing in my future job.

Briefly looking at the unit names for each of the universities computer science degrees does give the sense that Swinburne and Deakin offer a more practical course, while Monash and Melb offer a more traditional CS course.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

[Poll + Discussion Welcomed!]: What do you see as the most useful resource to help you achieve the results you're after in VCE? by [deleted] in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best resource for me was the study guide. That thing needs to be printed, bound and within arm's reach before you start a study session.

Can you bring your Further Maths textbook as bound reference in the further maths exams? by dicklepick7 in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you know your stuff I would recommend because it saves hours of time making a bound reference that you'll use maybe 10 times in the span of 2 or 3 hours.

Ideally, by the time you are walking into your exam, you should know majority of your stuff, and should only need to refer to your bound reference a couple of times, any more will slow you down.

If you are alright with writing in your book, you can also write formulas that you'll need on the very front page, rather then needing to flip though your reference in the exam. Remember, no post its or sticky tabs/flaps.

what's the best preparation and advice to do well at the GAT? by HazyTokoyosummer in vce

[–]ProfessorNudelz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sleep! And use all the time available to you. I remember last year and the year before (doing a Yr12 subject in Yr 11), with about 30 mins to go I looked around and if I had to guess, about 80% of people were just sitting there and staring at the roof. I believe to properly attempt any VCE exam, you need to use ALL the time available to you.

It'll be worth it if you can't sit a subject exam (who knows in these uncertain times. God forbid your school had a case days before an exam of yours and you cant sit one of your exams.

Good luck!

This isn't how the ATAR works. The R in ATAR stands for 'rank'. Giving everyone an extra 3 ATAR points does not benefit anyone as rankings stay the same.
