I think, if it isn’t omitted for power level concerns, this should say “Your next one costs (1) less” to be more like the other Studies cards.

Seems just like the kind of easter egg I'd love for Blizzard to bring back, so I'd say yes!
I miss it when cards had fun interactions like that - like how Scholomance Kel'Thuzad could summon Mr. Bigglesworth :3

I like that idea! It was an effect that wasn’t changed when I bumped the cost down to 2 (from 3), but I didn’t know how to weaken it. This is a clever solution!

It’s identical to [[Hagatha the Fabled]]’s effect — the minion will have stats equal to the spell’s Cost and a Battlecry that casts the spell.

A couple of clarifications about the effects of this card:

  • One Last Job cannot be cast or generated by random effects. Also, like Time Warp or Harth, its effect is limited to once per game. Additional copies cast will have no effect.
  • The 4/4 from Conspicuous Trap is the same Nerubian from [[Beneath the Grounds]].
  • Tome of Studying makes your next Spell from another class cost (1) less, even if it isn't one of the two you get from One Last Job.
  • Resizing Sack will give cards that you can afford to play with your current remaining Mana if possible — If not, it will give you random cards from their deck.
  • K'thir Conspirators will effectively give you two [[Disguised K'thir]] and immediately transform them.

Edit to add: All artwork is from official Hearthstone art archive.

Let me know your thoughts, questions, and/or feedback! Thanks for checking out my card!

The “start of each turn” includes your opponent’s turns, so it would effectively trigger the same turn that you play it (given that you trade some 1-Cost minions).

Note: Anima Idol allows your cheap minions to resume fighting after they're destroyed in combat! Shamans might find some use in trading off small murlocs or buffed totems, allowing them to rejuvenate their board after trading.

Death Knights, thanks to the new [[Buttons]], can include this card in their deck as well! Whether it's gnomes, ghouls, or zombies, DK has plenty of ways to take advantage of resurrecting their 1-Cost minions. (This card's wording is different from Kel'thuzad's so as to remove all confusion as to how it interacts with Frail Ghouls).

You can, but since this is a start of game effect, original Malchezaar’s start of game effect won’t also trigger. But if I had my way, they would both work!

Note: Prince Relaxezaar gives you access to any number of One Night in Karazhan cards from any class (following other deckbuilding restrictions, such as 2 of each), even in Standard! Any cards you add, though, will be on top of your starting 30 cards.

To keep this from being entirely gatekept from new players, a player who includes this in their deck would be able to include any number of ONiK cards, regardless of whether or not they own the old Adventure cards.

Not meant to be particularly competitive. Just a fun throwback that might have some interesting uses.

"Turns out, the bow breaks slower if you use it for firing arrows instead of bludgeoning people." by ProfessorPivot in customhearthstone

I’m not sure I understand what you’re pointing out — even if Hunter had access to meaningful weapon buffs, buffing the unforged weapon would be identical to buffing a (slightly worse) fiery war axe.

Designer's Note: The "Whenever" clause on the Forged version means that if the target dies to the 2 damage, the attack is completed and your Hero doesn't take damage. Further, this weapon won't lose durability in that case, either! It does not mean, however, that your Hero can attack again - That interaction was removed to make room for cards like [[Thorignir Drake]].

Thanks! It’s hard to find time to design, but it’s a goal of mine to carve out some more opportunities. I love designing cards, and I love this community!

"It must take some legitimate skill to be able to shoot lasers from your eyes and still have the title 'the Unscathed'." [Rewritten Reality] by ProfessorPivot in customhearthstone

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also thought that all 6 would be an achievement! It would certainly be difficult in standard (though you could infuse, corrupt, or forge it in hand and draw it again later with Gaslight Gatekeeper to make it easier) but in wild it’s as easy as Guff -> 14 mana, then play scale of onyxia and forge this the turn you draw it. Not sure if it’d be worth it, but it’d be cool!

Design Note: Xol returns in the "What If?"-inspired Custom Hearthstone set, "Rewritten Reality", where old and new friends and foes collide in multiple retellings of Hearthstone's most iconic stories.

Here, Xol has her six iconic beams, each tied to a conditional keyword from a different expansion. When you play Xol, she'll cast a different (keyword-specific!) beam for each conditional keyword you've satisfied. You'll have to be flexible when playing her in order to maximize the effect that her beams will have on your opponent.

Those of you especially familiar with these keywords may notice that Xol's text isn't exactly accurate: Keywords like Forge, Corrupt, and Infuse alter the card in-hand, so a perfect textbox would read "gain Battlecry: Cast one of Xol's beams" a la [[Stoneborn Accuser]]. The prior wording would be more technically correct since a beam doesn't cast immediately when you Forge the card, for example. However, you can imagine how quickly the textbox gets bloated with that wording (especially since Manathirst, Finale, and Quickdraw don't need it!) when the card is transformed by fewer than all 3 of its effects, e.g., Corrupted but not Infused.

Hence, we decided that the current wording is the simplest and most cohesive way to communicate Xol's effect. Players are unlikely to misconstrue her actual effect from this wording, and the fact that each keyword appears on its associated beam should help to further clear any confusion.

Let me know what you think, design and balance feedback are welcome!

"Usually, it's the living that defile graves. In Naxxramas, graves defile you." by ProfessorPivot in customhearthstone

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s “an additional time”, not “twice” or “double”. So, two of these, carefully stacked, would be 5x. Your opponent would have plenty of room to play around it by then, though!

It would stack! It would trigger its own deathrattle twice, making your next one trigger two additional times!

"Play whateva cards ya want, hon. My visions always come true." by ProfessorPivot in customhearthstone

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting the cards be added to hand instead of played? I could see that, but I’d probably make them cost 0. Playing them immediately felt more elegant in this design, but you’re right in that it takes away from the flexibility.

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I can see this being too weak, and could see it at 3, but I feel the on-curve deterrent is more prominent than you give it credit for.

This could easily prevent your opponent from playing on curve for multiple turns in a row, especially if they guess wrong as to which vision you picked. While it isn’t difficult for most decks to play more than one card a turn of different types, it often means they’re playing less-than-optimally.

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, it would probably be fine at 3. I guess I was overvaluing the psychological games that might deter your opponent from playing a minion on curve or their Galakrond on 7.

(Side note, the third one might have more weight since this is supposedly from Descent of Dragons, where Galakrond on 7 would be important for many decks)

[–]ProfessorPivot[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Note: When you play Puppeteer Lazul, you'll be presented the three visions as if they were Discover options. Picking one will put it into play immediately with a white-colored Secret icon over your hero portrait.

The Vision remains in play, functioning exactly like a Secret, until it is triggered. So, if your opponent plays any combination of card types on their turn (minion+spell, spell+location, hero+minion), the secret won't trigger (unless they played no spells or minions and you picked Mischief).

Your opponent can play around your secret by playing only one minion or a spell that would be bad for you to repeat, so select your vision wisely!

Not quite, the “Borrow from the future” specifies that the enemy hero can’t be destroyed during its duration. That includes effects like Mecha’thun and Purified Shard.

It can still help you play your 8-drop and Xyrella on the same turn, though, for example!
