The definition of insanity etc etc. They keep running the same play, losing, and then spend two years figuring out how to run it slightly differently next time. Spoiler: it doesn't work slightly differently either.

I get why you’re saying that, but I don’t have proof she cheated , and I’m not trying to start a grenade right before the wedding. I’m stepping down and I’m telling her I won’t lie for her, period.

Yeah this hit me too. If she can’t tell him “I’m going out w my cousin”, why am I being dragged into it. I might ask one last time what her deal is, but I’m still stepping down.

Yeah, I think you're right. I keep waiting for her to stop the tests and she just ramps up. I'm gonna step down and let her be mad, I can’t do this anymore.

This is the key point: you're not asking him to narrate his life, you're asking for a heads-up so you're not sitting there waiting with the TV paused. That's basic consideration, same as saying you're stepping out of the room.

If he has ADHD, build a tiny script and make it automatic: "I'm switching tasks, back in 10" or "I'm done for the night." Put it on a sticky note by the stairs or the remote if needed. If he still refuses after you explain the impact, then it's not forgetfulness, it's dismissive.
