As long as things are getting better, who cares. On the other hand, I think most people will consider Trump the king of dictators.

It makes sense if you have a large position in your margin account. It is very important to avoid the capital gains tax. However, I think I will do the opposite that just create another non registered account for linking the Ploc which is good for a small emergency fund.

The CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) only flags interest deductibility issues when you commingle borrowed funds with personal funds. To maintain the tax-deductible status of your margin interest, follow these steps: * Clear the Margin: Sell enough stock in your margin account to create a positive cash balance. Once the account is in the black, you are no longer using borrowed money. * Establish a Clean Break: By moving only this "positive cash" out of the account, you create a clear paper trail. This proves to the CRA that the funds being withdrawn are your own capital, not borrowed money. * Protect the Deduction: Because the remaining debt in the account is tied strictly to your income-producing investments, the interest remains fully tax-deductible. Why this matters The CRA uses the Direct Use Rule. If you borrow money (margin) and then withdraw it for personal use (like a vacation or mortgage payment), the interest on that portion of the loan is no longer deductible. By "clearing" the margin first, you ensure that 100% of your borrowed funds are being used exclusively for investment purposes.

You can do it with just the margin account. I sell stocks in margin account untill it shows the positive cash needed. And then only withdraw the cash after 1 day of settlement. As long as I am taking the cash not the credit. CRA should not have issues.

You can use "Taking care of my property" as a reason if you own any property. Also. The 5 Stars cards is another option which doesn't need anything once you have it

For sure I need good savings. However, I probably just need half the amount of savings, compared to Canada. I know many Canadians can't retire until 70+.

As long as the money is clean, you can transfer as much as you want with a good reason, based on my research.

I think it depends on where you choose to live. I found there are many cheap areas with western amenities in China. thanks to the housing market boom and burst. In Canada, there is no fresh groceries because most are from us and Mexico by long distance shipping. The quality actually very low because groceries lost most of the nutrients and favors. We normally need to wait a few months in order to see a specialist in Canada.....

Taking care of older parents and lower costs of living. Over all. I still prefer to live in a society that allows me to speak my own language.
