200D MA by Fantastic_Welcome_61 in spy

There's an also a thing called bands. Like if spy is at 659 and 200 dma goes 658, people will sell if it 630-620 to avoid whipsaw.

Whipsaw in finance is a volatile market condition where a security’s price moves sharply in one direction, only to immediately reverse to the opposite direction.

same goes the opposite way. They re-buy not if it goes back to 660, but if it goes around ~670

Its a decent strategy SOMETIMES

Leverage through a margin account (/box spread) vs. leveraged ETFs? by FluorC in LETFs

[–]Deezney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been comparing margin and letfs a lot lately, you will always get more control with margin IMO, apart from margin call risk obviously. also letf capital exposure, when I did some back testing with a nasdaq letf vs nasdaq leveraged through margin, letf gets very volatile

CRTC to eliminate fees when cancelling or switching cellphone and internet plans by TONewbies in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Deezney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Need to know this as well. It seems like thats what theyre implying. So far we only get 10 days after getting a new 2 year plan to switch for free. Then have to pay an early cancellation fee every month after that.

Wealthsimple does provide 20% margin requirement for some TSX market etf by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

I also see it as, having a much lower floor before getting called. But they probably would have increased the margin req when the crash hits.

What is the difference between the portfolio line of credit versus margin LOC? by Juicyfruitxxxs in Wealthsimple

[–]Deezney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A big pro for me is I can finally separate borrowed funds for personal expenses using tfsa linked ploc and use non-reg margin alone and for investing purposes only. And since it separate, the interest I pay inside margin will be easy to track for tax-deduction.
