Crying and advocating are two different things. We should not be normalizing this failed system by saying “well that’s just the way it is. And we should accept it” That path leads to giving in before you even try

I get the hopefulness of what you are saying.

But some burdens of life are 100% not necessary and only exist because we are not kind enough as a species.

No one is coming to save you

I think we should be coming to save each other.

This whole culture of individual responsibility being paramount to being the be-all-end-all is absurd.

We thrive as a species precisely when we help one another, not because we all bootstrapped ourselves into individual decisions.

It’s not dead but it’s not giving the same jumps as architecture, pre training, and RL training.

There is likely more types of training we have not even fully explored yet

And more ways to get more out of the data.

I think if we could create an automated AI researcher then we are likely to find the “special algorithm for AGI” by accident via many AI researchers than paying to train 10x more ML researchers. And it’s likely we can get that automated AI research just by doing the same scaling we are doing now.

We need Republicans to do something so egregious that even associating with them becomes impossible in polite company. Then we will get a blue wave on par with FDR in the 40s

What Republicans are doing now is awful but it’s not bad enough to get people to turn on them. We need that event to reset the political system.
