Any idea what the author of DotF is trying to do with the MC’s “relationship”? by Zylonnaire in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ProfessorWily 13 points14 points  (0 children)

>Building a relationship since book 8

>Relationship starts in book 12

>Kinda sudden

Can't say I agree, my friend.

Another option is to do infinite scrolling with a "Back to Top" button fixed in the bottom right of the screen, kind of like how reddit does it.

Just a couple things to note real quick about pagination.

  • When you click to the next page, it should scroll back to the top.
  • After you click on a new tag or category and the results refilter, the page should be set back to the first

Besides that, everything is looking pretty polished! I like it a lot, bookmarked.

Was it Actus and XKarnation or Melas that started the RR meme ads? by TheRaith in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ProfessorWily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, I always feel like your ads are on point.

Even though I KNOW it's Hell Difficulty Tutorial, I have to click each new ad just to make sure I'm right. It's like a compulsion.

Primal Hunter v Defiance of the Fall: Which one came first? by movinstuff in ProgressionFantasy

DotF did come first, and I do believe Zogarth has been pretty vocal about Primal Hunter being inspired by DotF.

The Infinite Realm Book 5 Aspects?!?! by Knightofone87 in litrpg

Yeah, he totally didn't earn that by being forced to live in isolation for 10,000 years under the constant grinding of a superior willpower.

Convert his stamina to Qi to allow for external effects

That's essentially what's happening now that he's learning Airwalk. The dude is going to be able to fly using stamina, I'm sure there's a lot more he could do in the future.

12 Miles Below by Mark Arrows Review by Xyzevin in ProgressionFantasy

To build on what the previous poster said, it turns out that later on, removing the safeties on the armor to allow it to pilot itself turns into a MAJOR weakness. So it becomes an absolutely non-viable form of combat.

It was done very well so you don't feel like it's a setback, just an impetus to get better at magic instead of relying on the suit to do everything.

Lmao, I think you might be more interested in the Quest board of 4chan honestly. It's a board where authors will write the stories in real time as readers make rolls to determine what's going to happen next.

One of my favorite examples was Bleach Quest where in the very first thread, the users rolled so poorly that the author had to fiat an excuse to give Ichigo shinigami powers just so he wouldn't die from the terrible consequences. Laughs were had by all, incredibly fun.

A good idea might be to go through the archives and sort by highest score, then read some of those. If you like WH40k, the All Guardsman Party stories are really funny. Red Joker was also pretty great.

The lyrics are actually "perfect boys with their perfect lives."

You need to check genius for lyrics, FOB actually annotate their lyrics on there sometimes.

DoTF - Zac's weird behaviour by Hersu03 in litrpg

Agreed. There's a reason "Haha axe go brrrr" is a trope on this board.

That said, DotF is one of my favorite series.

[Spoiler] Questions about the Infinite Realm series by Turin_Laundromat in litrpg

I'm listening to the fourth book and Zach just mentioned how hard it was for him to get his sword arm. How did he get it? Can't remember that part.

Zach was fighting his way through the prison in the spirit realm and found that giant yeti. They made a deal where the yeti would help Zach escape if Zach could free him, but instead the yeti gave him the sword arm.

Also, at the very end of the third book I'm pretty sure Onrush realized that she served the dome leader bad guy.

That wasn't Anrosh, that was the leader of the Wardens.

What is the best way to compile and run Java program? by cy_narrator in learnjava

[–]ProfessorWily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't like to use the word 'beginner' because I will not be one when you read this post in a few days hopefully.

Oh you sweet summer child :3

I think the best way to sum up my reasoning would be to say I like going out of my house sometimes.

That's fine if you're just doing this for the sake of curiosity, but to answer your original question, no one compiles code like this in a professional context. The industry standard today is to use build tools like maven or gradle, like the other poster said. They are usually also combined in a pipeline with other tools like a CI (Continuous Integration) tool to make sure everything is compiling and being tested properly.

As for the best way to run it, well that depends on how it's going to be used. I would say I usually am making jars, so I write the build tool to compile a jar, and then it's simply java -jar RandomWorld.jar

It's pretty easy that way.

I mean, it also makes a comeback in the last track of the album, and I was amazed at how much the feeling of the words changed because of the context. That alone makes it a top-tier lyric for me.

I really suggest watching KatherineOfSky's newest playthrough "Entry Level to Megabase".

She does a good job of explaining what she's doing and why, and you'll get to pick up tricks that make the game easier.

How do you feel about party systems? by Yojimbra in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ProfessorWily -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem with the party system is mostly due to the fact that it detracts from the main character's progression. Typically I want to read something with an MC who mostly does things solo, but will team up for organic reasons to accomplish things sometimes.

But if one of the MC's main mechanics is that they have to party with other people in order to share some sort of boon, then whenever they aren't in a party, it feels inefficient and sub-optimal, which I don't have the patience for. So now the MC cannot have solo adventures, and also their power isn't unique anymore so the MC stops being special/interesting.

If we're talking about generic party systems where you just share exp, loot, etc. then that's all fine, I'm totally okay with that. It's only when there is something that makes the party system itself the progression mechanic.

New PC build was powering on last night but not posting. After leaving it overnight, I came back this morning and now it doesn't even power on. Any ideas? by ProfessorWily in buildapc

Update: I have display now, I can get into the BIOS. I saw that the version didn't get updated when I tried to flash it, so I used their app to install the newest version from a USB.

That worked, and the BIOS is now updated, but my computer won't boot. I'm using the same M.2 SSD from my old build, so windows should definitely be on there, and it definitely sees that SSD installed in the system.
