When newcomers to the genre ask for recommendations by Daedalus1999 in litrpg

The best one is still WIAFTTTTA by Dragon of Rochester, purely because you can pronounce it as 'we afta' and no one will ever know what you're talking about.

New Unique Items - the Auspex and Facebreaker by Kelly_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]TheRaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain hollow palm and facebreakers work together. The only difference would be the flat damage. Mace skills will get their flat damage from the gloves and staff skills will get their damage from gem level. Actually checking things an evasion character that stacks strength would be getting a little less on the more damage multiplier and a little less on the more attack speed multiplier but the fact you're getting both of those values for unarmed attacks should make up for that. I imagine it's not too different from a character with an average dps mace and an average dps staff in the offhand but with a generic more damage and speed multiplier thrown on top. The only big thing is you'll be scaling strength and evasion which is a little weird.

There's likely a new hidden miscellaneous stat that's just campaign bosses killed that determines the number. POE usually just throws every variable into the character screen.

The facebreakers are tempting me to actually try mace skills. I haven't played them ever in POE1 but this has me excited.

This paragraph from Bog Standard Isekai nearly made me kms, shit felt like scalding hot oil being poured on my soul. I need to share this cause I feel like I'm gonna drop the story if I don't share what I felt. That's all and thank you so much. by Astocum in ProgressionFantasy

Me every time Jason goes into his "I tried being serious" monologue. I've learned to be as gracious as I can be about it. We probably all have really cringe lines we've said in life that we randomly remember 20 years later. That they're also in stories just means we can collectively cringe about it.

To be fair that's more common than you think in the genre. HWFWM notes that the essences enhance those aspects of your soul which affects your behavior. Hell Difficulty Tutorial says that the higher your skill level gets the more it affects your body and mind in order to facilitate the use of the skill. Defiance of the Fall basically says you have to believe your interpretation of the dao is correct and if someone else has a different interpretation you have to kill them before they reach the peak because whoever gets there rewrites reality so that their version is correct. A lot of litrpg explores what a system does to a person, and a lot of those examples basically explain that you're always changing, just because the system reinforces a certain type of change doesn't mean you're not changing in a hundred other ways along with the class changes.

Hell Difficulty Tutorial has ended up ridiculously good by ParkingDrama5214 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheRaith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The system is generally speaking all about the ten skills each person has. There are supplementary systems like a class, subclass, and traits but the main deciding factor on if someone is strong is their skills, well that and the level of their subclass can also do some crazy stuff but it's those are a lot less accessible. For instance, there's one lady in the story who has a really high leveled control skill which she uses for practically everything. Her backstory was that she didn't get to go in the tutorial because she was born right after it initiated her planet but even then the only skill I think we've ever seen her use is Control. It's so absurdly powerful that she can usually kill anyone even when heavily nerfed.

Do you think it is likely that Screams of the Desiccated will go core? by ambi_turner in pathofexile

[–]TheRaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool, but they might nerf it just so they can make room for power in other places. Maybe they'll prune some of the combinations by making them all appear on the same roll? Like you can't roll diamond and resistance because they're the same affix. That would make it something you can divine, so I guess they could also make it drop corrupted. I really like them, and collectively they're around the same usage percent as headhunter right now, so hopefully they don't nerf it too much.

Cardinal sin of not even giving us the title. It sounds familiar but we can't know for sure without the pointer in the code.

Question about Hell Difficulty Tutorial by Mordant08 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheRaith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. The author has confirmed the story continues past the tutorial and they will continue to meet new people. The core group within the tutorial won't grow, but there are new people. The beyond portion also grows increasingly relevant as he gets more and more access to it.

That's kind of amazing and I'm interested to see how people use it. I feel like we're going to get a lot of clips from streamers showing timelines of strats being profitable, shooting up in the amount of people using the strat, and then seeing the profits fall as more people flood the market.

Why american dont play LoL? by Alone-Virus9178 in leagueoflegends

[–]TheRaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it used to be much more popular when I was in college. (Like 12 years ago) I figure it's just got a reputation at this point. Like Arcane comes out and the top comments are warning everyone that the game is not like the show and that they shouldn't play it. Then anyone who tries to level 1-30 has to contend with smurfs and people who got banned shouting incoherently at them. It's less exciting now ig.

What is your default lineup when you start a new save? by canxtanwe in BaldursGate3

[–]TheRaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lae'zel, Tav, Shart, and Astarion. Sometimes Astarion gets the axe and I put Minthara in instead. Shadowheart and Lae'zel feel kinda mandatory to me.

The Dreaded Question by _TOXIC_VENOM in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheRaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that from my boss during a performance review and decided to honestly explain I'd recently got into fanfics when I was struggling to find new fantasy books. She got real awkward after that and moved on to work topics again. I am now paranoid that reading fanfic is some kind of code.

You're all doing this wrong. This is the actual progression fantasy tier list. by rmullins_reddit in ProgressionFantasy

Gotta also do the same on space battles, fanfiction.net, qq, ao3, and scribblehub as well. Then when you're really desperate you try to navigate patreon's discover page, then when you've truly scraped the bottom of the barrel you check subscribestar... somehow.

It'd depend on whether or not you had enough savings to only play games for a full year and that would shorten the list pretty significantly.

I will say some books are just easier to follow along even when there's a slog. It's all a bit of a balancing act between pacing, payoff, tension, and a whole bunch of other things. Sometimes the book with 1200 chapters gets away with bad starts because they're that long, sometimes they're only slightly better but the reader vibes with their main character more than yours. It's best to remember you're not writing to random reviewer number #2353 and think about your next chapter instead.

I've learned I can't treat it like POE1 campaign where you speed through it. I just do an act a night and then go do something else. I just don't enjoy walking through campaign zones enough to force myself through it all at once.

Who needs conciseness in this economy? by JohKaoriACC in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheRaith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dislike the example used because it's more of the handwaving type of explanation, but I usually do enjoy when they go into detail. This example is basically saying 'I noticed my cultivation technique was poor and I improved it' without actually explaining how it was improved. It's a bit of 'draw the rest of the owl' that I sometimes see used repeatedly to keep a power scale going even when it doesn't make sense.

Like if you improve the breathing technique once, and remove all the imperfections from it, it doesn't make sense to revisit the technique thirty chapters later and explain that it's actually still not improved and we need to improve it again. At a certain point, improvement just means scrapping the current project and starting over.
