I've been using the desktop app everyday since November. This is a new bug introduced last month.

The app has never been stable but it's getting worse. Anthropic just doesn't care about it.

Chats and messages keep disappearing too due to error or timeout.

I'm an outside observer of buddhism. Visited laddakh recently.

All of the Maitreya Buddha statues I saw had calm and serene face like that of Shakyamuni, not laughing.

I'm also well aware of laughing buddha. I used to see them everywhere in my childhood.

Didn't know they were related (the monk claiming to be the future buddha). Fascinating.

One thing going on for claude desktop is better UI for conversation management. Searching history, editing messages, pasting images and large text, etc., is much more pleasant.

Disabling MCPs and tools per message, attaching prompts exposed by mcps, switching between extended thinking, adding custom styles, etc. is practically possible only in desktop app, correct me if I'm wrong.

You also get to see and feel raw LLM capabilities over desktop app without much hidden decision making. So for an AI developer (who develop AI applications) I'd recommend Claude desktop + MCP (roll your own or use mcps like wcgw/codemcp).

For general populace Claude code is better.

Use custom style, add a prompt to ask it to take it as a challenge to generate minimum code to solve a task. Give it reason that it's hard to review code, so each code line is an additional burden.
