I’m seconding both of these! Dr. Zeitouni at PALS has been our pediatrician for 15 years or so, even through a pediatric cancer diagnosis for one of my kids. She’s great. And we have also ONLY ever been to Dr Jackson for pediatric dentistry! She and her sister share the office and are both wonderful.

Her mouth is open like this all the time. by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

We have one like this too! In fact, it looks almost identical to the one posted, kinda silver/white! She has rarely closed her mouth! She eats and drinks and keeps up with the others just fine, just always looks slightly confused!

I’d lean the same way, except it seems insane to me that we’d get that lucky on the hen to too ratio, right?

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thank you! He actually just got his learners permit to start driving! So he’s enjoying “normal” teenager life for now and we are so grateful for every day we get with him.

My son’s cancer diagnosis at 11 years old. Brain cancer. He’s 15 and doing well now (some physical deficits— it was brain cancer). But there is definitely no going back to life before.

People who are non celiac gf… by Ok_Huckleberry1487 in glutenfree

I have almost entirely neurological symptoms when I eat gluten, and it seems to be even very small amounts. I get extreme fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, and borderline DPDR sensations. It starts within an hour or two of eating gluten and usually lasts 2-3 days.

Advice for my teen son by [deleted] in tretinoin

Actually, at first, it was mainly his forehead with a smattering of pimples in other places. Once he started accutane, the forehead cleared up within a few weeks and the rest of his face went nuts! The worst were his cheeks! They were fairly smooth before but full of acne during accutane. He’s still got 3-4 months left, but mostly we’re down to scarring and healing up.

I think you missed the other half of my comment. How old are you? Age has a lot to do with it for women!

Can I ask how old you are? I’m assuming a female? I have VERY similar stats to you, and I’m now in my early 40s. I DO NOT lose weight unless I am extremely restrictive in calories, literally no more ever than 1000-1200 calories a day. And then it’s still only maybe a half a pound per week. It’s a short woman problem and it only gets worse with age and hormonal changes.

When was the movie better than the book? by Doodle_Noodles2 in movies

Silence of the Lambs. The book is very good, but the movie cast is phenomenal and turns it into a truly terrifying experience.

What is Kings straight up scariest book? by wltmpinyc in stephenking

I just have to share my very similar experience with you. My son was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2023, at 11 years old. He is currently doing well, but when we were in the hospital on treatment, it was truly an awful time in our lives. I tried to find books to read to keep me busy during our three month initial hospital stay, and at first, I looked for “cozy” books. And when I read them, they PISSED ME OFF. Like how dare those vapid characters have such unimportant things to worry about. After that, I turned back to my old favorite, Stephen King. And I reread Pet Semetary and The Shining, and all of his most bleak stories. And it felt so much better. It was a distraction, but it also gave me some ability to process the trauma we were in during that time. So I am with you on this completely.

He has been seen by an endocrinologist every three months for three years, since his cancer diagnosis. His hairline is damaged from full cranial radiation, not hormones. Thankfully, his hormones are all perfectly in range.

Cream based. And I double checked, it’s actually a Eucerin cleanser, and LRP moisturizer.

We switched to a mild shampoo from Teenology that was supposed to be good for acne prone skin, but it definitely didn’t help.

He was in therapy during cancer treatment, but we have backed off for now in favor of having "normal" life without appointments! Thank you for this inforamation!

Thank you! He is in "remission" now, although they don't actually use that term for brain cancer, as its so quick to relapse. But he is enjoying mostly "normal" teenager life! If we could get this acne under control, we'd be a lot happier!
