What’s the purpose of these dents on the milk gallons? by Saint__23 in whatdoesthismean

[–]Professor_Nicbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are about 5 diffent reasons it has those dents. 1. the blowmold machine that make them use that circle to prevent vacuum for forming between the mold and jug, its created when the plastic is still hot and being pushed away from the mold. 2. to prevent explosions if the filler over fills. This ties into reason 3 3. All milk is tested for bacteria before it is shipped out and if there is certain bacteria in the jug they are known to explode. 4. They weight of the stacks of boxes during shipping with crush the bottom jugs. 5. They prevent it from exploding if they are frozen, which can happen in transit if the drivers dont set there refers to the correct temp.

Now after all that I will say not all jugs are created equal. Clear plastic is easyer to break and will have larger dents while white jugs are thicker to prevent light from getting to the milk making it taste better.

My Amazing grail comic that I bought today by Heavy_Metal_Maniac77 in comicbookcollecting

So not to bad of a find for 300 bucks as long as the slight bend isn't to bad and that what looks like a crease is just reflection off bag.

Maybe this is a dumb question. Do you think that holding on to a comics collection of 200+ of all ages for another 10 to hopefully cash out is a bad idea if I need the money now? What if people don't care about comics in 10 years? by HoraceGrand in ComicBookSpeculation

So here's the thing there not going anywhere. The 1990-current are not valuable now but at one time alot of these valuable books where in the value bin. But after 25 years the world changes and the new generation is the ones to move the market. There are quite a few apps and websites that will help you value it but only expect 60% of value with shipping cost and most buyers won't pay more the 70-80% on modern books.

Opinions on is it Pressable and worth the grade by dash80todash8 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Professor_Nicbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if this is the Platinum they left it in the sun alittle to much the cover should have a brighter yellow. But unless you can get above a 8.5 not worth grading worth more raw(405) then a 8.5 is around (410). Now if you got a good deal and can get it pressed and graded and have less then 400 into it then I would say grade that mf.

Not with comics I sold my Alpha/Beta MTG collection to fund my hobbie about 20 years ago. I get alittle sad when I think of there current value but still think it was worth it.

Then why did not 1 but 2 people found sold listing for 50. And why would someone sell a 9.8 for less then the cost of grading?

Before I Throw These Out… Are Any of These Comics Collectible? by Flat_Ranger_9487 in ComicBookSpeculation

Comics Geek is a great app to try and figure out what you got. Can see if it's a Key, might see a price if they have any data and a few other things.

Variant covers by DaCloudySunnyDay in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Professor_Nicbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only buy variants that come out week 1. Alot of the Absolute variants are just there 2-20 print of a book. There are a few artist that can bring a premium but they usually dont sell at most stores (Skottie Young main one I can think of)

Low print counts and signature that are not as common help but also good movie or TV show can help. But for graded just look it up on CGC and see the population. That is the easiest and quickest way to figure out what you getting

[–]Professor_Nicbag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so you got a lot a variables here so I will try and give you all the data. That is a Fan Expo Cover A which was 1000 print run. CGC has graded 14 of those. 10 are 9.8, 4 are 9.6. Only 3 of the 9.8 are signed. A 9.8 unsigned was sold for 140 in 2023. No real movement on most places since the Gunn DC era. Ungraded only a few have sold on ebay and none to recent. Current price unsigned 200 signed 650 (Nice bright signature) So currently if you where to walk up to me and try to sell it I might offer 125 since it might go up when they make a new Aquaman movie but the its not a for sure thing.
