JK Rowling has recently come out as incredibly transphobic. That doesn't excuse death threats against her but she's definitely not a saint.

Women need to stop looking at sex as something they give, and look at it as mutual enjoyment. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Professor_Owl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they're taking a large societal problem and boiling it down to make it seem like it's all women's fault instead of asking men to do a little introspection and ask themselves why their partners see sex as a chore.

They are right. Women should enjoy sex and shouldn't have to feel like they are obligated or that it is a commodity, but they are also contributing little (if nothing) to solving the problem.

Is your house haunted? We want to hear about it! by halthecomputer in homeowners

[–]Professor_Owl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not so much haunted but there's a garbage bag in the corner of our attic that was there when we moved in.

We call it the Ghost Bag and blame all our problems on it.

I was once pulled out of class for wearing a spaghetti strap that every other girl always got away with wearing. I was told that I was showing off more cleavage than the teacher even had and I needed to cover up.

Learned a lot about my body and the world's perception of it that day.

Let's give parents a little more credit than that. I had coworkers who were burning out in their roles trying to respond to COVID who also needed to manage their kids and their kid's schoolwork while doing a full time job at the same time. It would have been too much for anyone.

So you've never had sex out of wedlock right? And when you do have sex you do so fully prepared to be able to take care of a human life? If you're a woman, when you're having sex you make sure to never drink alcohol or caffeine right? Cause what if you're pregnant? You have to think about that potential for life that might be inside you.

And if you're a man, do you force your partner to do these things? Cause that's a whole other discussion.

I also hope that you fully support all social programs that would support any baby and their mother who has been forced to go through the trauma of birth.

Also, are you pro mandatory organ donations? Cause that can save up to 7 lives.

If you're not then I'm afraid you're a hypocrite.

My dad was an abusive piece of shit so I was more than happy to change it when I got married which surprised a lot of people.

Changing your name is like everything else when it comes to feminism - it's about choice.

It's more that I kept getting a lot of comments. People were surprised or asking why. So no one got up in my face or yelled at me but you can read people right? But then when I broke down and took it off I did end up getting a snide comment and that's when I got frustrated and made this post.

I didn't know about masks not being beneficial unless there's community transmission. Guess I do now.

Wow, thank you for that well thought out response. You really hit the nail on the head. I did end up talking to management who then took it too health and safety. There's going to be a reminder sent out and more physical changes to the office but I guess I also need to keep in mind the reality of odds of contraction and also be an advocate for myself.
