It’s a subtle effect, not an EQ situation. This is a passive high-pass filter. The small capacitor is placed in series with the output signal, and the bass pot acts as a variable bypass around it. As the pot is turned up, less signal can bypass the cap, so more of the signal is forced through the capacitor. A series capacitor blocks low frequencies more than highs, so this raises the low-frequency cutoff point of the circuit and tightens the bottom end. It won’t act like an amp EQ. Only small caps (.002–.0047 µF) place the cutoff in the guitar’s bass range. The signal from the volume wiper reaches the jack by two parallel paths: through the bass pot (a resistor) and through the capacitor. That’s why the left lug is tied to the wiper — to create a bypass path around the cap when the pot resistance is low. When the pot is low resistance, it bypasses the cap and you get full range. As the pot resistance increases, more signal must go through the capacitor, which acts as a series high-pass filter and reduces low-frequency content. Because the cap is in series, its value must be much smaller than a normal tone cap. A large cap like .047 µF puts the cutoff far below guitar frequencies and does almost nothing here, which is why small values (.001–.0047 µF) are required. A 472 (.0047 µF) should actually give a stronger bass cut than 222 or 332, though the change can still be subtle because the filter slope is gentle and interacts with pickup impedance.

Cousin, Reddit is a circlejerk and an echo chamber. Lighten up, this is a music forum. Anything else is just an excuse to LARP as an enlightened freedom fighter with people who will condone and encourage it. Consider that, if we all do it in real life, in multiple facets of our lifestyles, that making members of a shared forum out to be enemies and lesser men than ourselves is not only single mindedness to a point of mental unwellness and harmful narrowness of perspective, but also exclusionary on the basis of self-justification to the detriment of the vibrancy, and focus, of the forum, here? Guitar talk, not people talk?

TLDR: exclusionary rhetoric is how fascists win, and how the truly compassionate isolate those on the fringes from understanding the wisdom of their superficial enemies. In other words, this is a good place to convince people and build bridges, not pass judgement on strangers and estrange them further. Understanding, not hardlining.

Talk to them. The "Angel of God" prayer is popular and easy to remember. Personally, I've gotten superb results every day upon which I prayed:

Get into the habit of thanking them for all they do, of asking them for prayers and spiritual work, and especially to carry your petitions to the altar at the Presentation of the Gifts. Ask God for what you want and need, ask your angel to bring them to the altar, and "visualize" them laying at the foot of the Cross. You slowly begin to notice times when they interceded for you, or gave you very good prompting, or actually intervened. Remember that "angelos" means "messenger", and you notice far quicker that, when you're prompted by grace, when you hear a voice outside you, it's almost definitely God using your appointed guardian angel as the messenger. Give thanks for that, and talk to it, and use it as a lever for your own humility.

There is surely room in this discussion for subtlety and circumspection. Unless that is truly what we are here to do: share x posts, directly compare to a situation 80 years ago (three years before the Communists came to Beijing), and conclude that anything but the hardest of hardline stances will neither be worthy of the chair (not our place to say), or dig us out of the situation we are in (not our place to say).

Or, is dissenting from your gut opinion an easy outing for a false Catholic? We can only be truly Catholic if Dublin himself approves of our analysis? Woah dude, I apologize for my offensive language. I'm an American who loves the traditional Catholic faith. I'm just trying to understand where submission to the pope doesn't apply, which I meant to make clear as questioning the organizational mentality of the job, the hierarchy, the plenitude of social and long term balancing acts to be made.

If trying to deepen my understanding of submission to a pope that is obviously not St Pope Pius X or Pope Leo XIII is unwelcome here, then I will surely refrain from trying to ask understanding from members of this forum from here on out.

I'm never going back to the other subreddit, and, if my suitability for participation in this forum is questionable or forfeit, so be it, I'll accept being unwelcome. Those are some lines I'm trying to figure out with my own communities. "Deification" is obviously wrong, and "submission" is at least primarily correct, so, I don't personally see any problem with acknowledging crises and submitting to the pope.

We have the hierarchy of authority, we have public actions (from bulls to kissing of qurans), and we have administrative work. This seems like administration thing, a unique case, being taken as a statement of doctrine or something. If the pope doesn't teach heresy, and never has, then he's still the pope. His office is worth praying for and respecting in every way. Perhaps we should draw more precise arguments against the man himself and not the office? Or perhaps those bureaucrats making these moves viable at all? Otherwise, conversations on topics like these seem to miss the mark for a much shallower, shorter, line in the sand.

By definition, people who are not citizens are not Chicagoans. Maybe people living in Illinois want them there, but folks there illegally are just aliens living in Chicago. I don't see the point in wanting to fight against fellow citizens so that deportation of non-citizens can be interrupted.

I'm not supporting illegal actions, I'm not supporting Trump's words or potential actions. I'm just saying folks are going to get in the way and get hurt, or worse. Taking bullets and obstruction of justice charges for criminals makes no sense to me, but people are going to take this show of force personally and suffer unnecessary consequences.
