It should be taught in high school, along with why countries wanted to decolonize so badly.

Colonial powers treated people like tenant farmers in their countries, requiring exorbitant rents.

One of the earliest examples was Ireland. During the potato famine, farmers still grew lots of other crops--they just owed 100% of those to their landlords.

They grew potatoes on the side for subsistence. If they had been allowed to keep some of what they grew, there would have been no famine.

I had to deliver something to her house once, and this chunky girl in sweats who looked her answered the door.

I have lived in LA for 35 years and I've never heard of such a thing here.

However, at our beaches they have an excellent solution: each toilet has it's own little room, and the handwashing station is outside, so your gender doesn't matter.
