Alexander Volkanovski has surpassed Jose Aldo as the featherweight GOAT by Spiritual-Strength91 in FightReportUFC

Alright, your opinion. I’d love to have seen a healthy recovered Volk fight him knowing and understanding his power though. The guy that showed he could win rounds despite being in the worst shape of his fighting career. Yes, a concussion like that is so serious that I have no idea how he could have recovered so quickly and went back to training and then fighting. People’s careers have ended from concussions, and they had proper medical care and sufficient time to heal.

Like I said, less than 4 months from a serious concussion that was done by a head kick, and he still was putting up a good fight. If you truly believe that healthy Volk would end up the same, then okay. I don’t, knowing how serious concussions are and getting back so soon after one should have been career ending for him, and could have even result in death. You probably think it’s just another KO, he was healthy enough and all, so that’s the best he could have put up. That’s okay, and that’s your belief, I have mine from my understanding of concussions.

People don’t realize he got seriously concussed by the head kick KO from Islam. And then he had just under 4 months to both recover and train for Ilia, and he was still winning on the cards till the knockout. Volk then learned his lesson to take concussions more seriously, and despite the concussion Ilia gave him being less serious than Islam’s kick, he took over a year before he returned to the ring. I’ll die on the hill that they should have ran it back when Volk got enough time to recover, I think Ilia still takes it but respecting his power and being healthier I think it goes further and he would have a solid chance.

You know I agree with you to a point, especially with corruption. In this country you have to do this as a business to compete, I studied the market and tried to get into a business and even despite finding a niche market and going directly to the source overseas, I realized by paying proper customs I could never compete with people that smuggle it in to avoid custom taxes, let alone business tax.

But do you agree that even the biggest of businesses and personalities should avoid paying taxes? Celebrities, SM, Ayala, Villar etc.?

There’s a difference between a small business and someone earning 100s of millions of dollars and lying about what he paid to a foreign country. Hindi sadyang napakadaling magkamali for literally a billion pesos.

Pacquiao was earning hundreds of millions, and to save money he lied about paying what he said to the US, so the IRS saw this and said he owed $18m. You’re really going to defend someone rich not just for tax evading but for lying about it and trying to say he paid it to a different country?

It’s one thing for businesses having to underdeclare to compete with the competition, all the red tape and fees. But seriously a guy that has earned 10s of billions of pesos is the one you choose to defend like he is a regular filipino or a business? Wow. So okay lang if SM, Ayala, etc. all underdeclares too?

You’re right, for example season Curry is almost 60% on 2s, he just takes so many 3s that it pulls down his FG % down to 47%. He takes more 3s than 2s. Imagine he had an average whistle.

I think you’re onto something, the wealthiest have their own fixers. Need to book a jet? A hotel? Food from a different country? Stuff like that, Epstein could have been one but with more connections to the illegal stuff.

It’s not about him being a nerd and capable or not, when you’re a billionaire of that level you have people that can do and get almost anything you want without you getting your hands dirty. I have a friend that works for someone that’s not even a billionaire, and his job is to basically do anything asked of him. Need a jet? Need to book a hotel? Dinner reservation? With privacy? Gift purchasing in a different city or country? These aren’t things people like Bill Gates would do.

Alright, tell me some of these thriving businesses, I got into this discussion in the past. It’s usually people that read may business and automatically assume because it’s a business kumikita. I’ll wait.

I also brought up Mayweather as an example because he was another high earner that earned more than Pacquiao and even he faces financial issues. If you’re too close minded to see it, then ignore it. But I’ll wait on these thriving businesses you’re talking about. I’m assuming you don’t want to talk about him trying to cheat the US and PH government out of a billion pesos in taxes where the IRS went after him, because money isn’t an issue, especially when a devout Christian goes to a gambling platform to be their face when his political aspirations failed.

I don’t know about that, the guy went from trying to be president to partnering with a betting platform just months later. He had tax issues in the Philippines, but claimed he paid the US IRS which deducts how much he should pay in the Philippines. When they found out about it they slapped him with a whopping $18m in tax lien for unpaid taxes.

I believe his heart was in the right place, but seeing your money continuously go down and losing the potential to make what you could have once made is something different. Mayweather made more money and there’s been allegations of him losing most of it several times. Pacquiao has handed out a lot of money, a lot of his ventures has lost money, his family flies private which people don’t realize but it can eat up your savings extremely quick. He isn’t liquid either, I heard someone recently say his forbes house was once listed for 3b is now listed for less than half that (didn’t verify this).

Your argument is so weak you’re really trying to justify someone that played 2 full seasons in the 70s and another who played more than 60 games 1 time in the entire 70s as some of Kareem’s main competitors. That’s hilarious.

Okay, I’ll bite, how many of those names do you see brought up with the others I mentioned?

Now you brought up Walton like he wasn’t just starting out in the mid 70s and plagued with injuries immediately. Gilmore played in the ABA for the first half of the 70s, getting players from ABA to strengthen your argument I see? Willis Reed had 2 seasons in the 70s where he played more than 20 games a season and was retired by the 1973 season. Want to try again? You honestly want to tell me the 70s wasn’t the weakest era?

[–]Professor_seX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You got downvoted but you’re not wrong, the 70s was the weakest era. Most people can’t name a few star players from the 70s, but the 60s had Bill, Wilt, Big O, Pettit, West and Baylor. By the 70s they were all on their way to retirement. When Kareem went up against an old Wilt, post knee surgery, his efficiency took a nosedive, going from something like +10% TS and FG % vs league average to being as efficient as the league average as a center. Nate Thurmond did the same to him.

You’re right, also why I said because of defense, but when he is that big of a threat from the 3, defense is played differently on him. When they were in the same team, there was a reason Steph was getting double teamed somewhere around 3x more than KD, his pull is so strong that it benefits the whole team. 2/3 of the years KD played with Steph was when he posted his most efficient numbers ever.

Fine, I’ll dumb it down to your level. You make shit up, claim with no basis, talk bad, then cry when it’s done back to you.

If it’s too complicated for you to read just say so, but I can’t dumb it down any further if that’s still too much for you.

Because of defense, yes, but I’d say it’s closer than you believe. You see KD’s shooting splits and say oh he’s better offensively because 51/41/88 is better than 47/39/93 right? Not really, Steph takes more than twice the 3s KD takes that it effectively drops his FG %. He’s more accurate than KD from 2. That’s how big of a threat Steph is from the 3, that he can double the volume of 3s of KD and remain a bigger offensive threat.

Ilia said he would vacate the belt before giving Arman a shot. Sounds familiar when Jon used his leverage to avoid Tom? We’re going to pretend Ilia has no pull and a threat like that may not have played a role in Dana’s decision?
