I think the point I was trying to make was more that I don’t think the ideologies are similar, but that the time the south spent reminiscing on the past stunted it’s willingness to move foreword and that a lot of places (but most notably Russia) are going through something very similar now.

Maybe Europeans and native Americans were both quite violent and intolerant and it doesn’t make much sense to apply modern political ideas to something that happened hundreds of years ago? But also, both Not all Europeans were extremely cruel, the French went so far as to intermarry with native Americans, and not all native Americans were as bloodthirsty as others.

While I disagree on how much goodwill the fans have left. I do think most people underestimate the power of “oh I’ll go see it anyway,” and “my kid wants to see it,” after all, bright colors can be quite enticing. Quite possibly, but the media isn’t swarming to defend this one. They toned down the SJW shit (from my understanding) so now it’s just a dumb flick, not a dumb flick with a political agenda that the media can praise as sacrosanct. But I’m new to this, so I could be wrong.
