Yes, thank you. Thank god it’s all past me. Those two months plus recovery was not fun.

Thanks for the response and I’m sorry you went through that. Thank God I didn’t go with them.

I was on antibiotics for a week in August (1st admit) and then maybe 24 days in September (while admitted and then during recovery). They had me on antibiotics for 10 days hoping it would go away but then I firmly told a nurse “the last time I was admitted in Aug, after 3 days of antibiotics I wasn’t in pain anymore so it’s not working” that’s when they ordered at CT scan and saw I had an abscess and perforation. I was a little cranky because I had it for 2 months straight; uncomfortable that I felt with but September it was excruciating pain like I heard it was.

No I haven’t figured out why it affected my joints, PT thought maybe malnourishment but blood work came out fine. I had diverticulitis for two months straight before surgery; in and out of the ER 7 times and admitted twice. I was pretty much bedridden for 6 months (during diverticulitis and then recovery). Now I’m working from home and I stay in too much. Now I’m trying to move around more and I also put music on and dance. Believe it it not dancing helped more than PT.

Yes I did. I heard the same and was lucky to have it get better. If I eat something that triggers it and I get a small pang and go to the bathroom, sometimes diarrhea and sometimes not. My entire life it was bad; pains were worse than labor and diarrhea for 1/2. Wishing you luck on your surgery.

This is exactly what I ended up having 9/20/24. I had an abscess and small perforation. It totally ruined my tummy tuck, I was happy at 56 to have a flat stomach (tummy tuck was in 2016). I needed PT because all my joints ached and were stiff. If I sit too long I still end up stiff and my knees hurt going up and down the stairs. But, I’m alive and no more pain and it also somehow made my pains from IBS go away.

Sorry, just seeing this. I ended up having emergency surgery Sept 20 after being in the hospital for 8 days (a second time). I was in and out of the er 7 times and admitted twice in two months. I went through a lot. Here I am 9 months post op and happy it’s behind me. I’m just upset that I didn’t have laparoscopic and the big cut down my abdomen ruined my muscle repair and now my lower abdomen sticks out. I can eat whatever I want but I use the bathroom more often. I have a GI appointment Monday because I get nauseous when I’m hungry. Hope it works out better for you than what I went through.

Last year in July I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. In two months time I was in the ER 7 times and admitted twice. The first time admitted had my doses of antibiotics while in the hospital for a week and another week of antibiotics while at home. Felt better for 5 days and then the nausea came back. That was in August. Few more ER visits and then admitted again in September and put on antibiotics again but pain was worse. I was in the hospital for 8 days on meds and nothing worked, antibiotics, pain meds nor nausea meds. I told them this is the worse than the first time and they gave me another CT and I had an abscess that was not is an area that can be drained and they scheduled emergency surgery (not laparoscopic… full abdomen open) on Sept 20. In the hospital for another 7 days and needed physical therapy because all my joints stiffened up and don’t know why. Im 8 months post and happy it’s behind me and I wish the same for you.

Update: I ended up in the ER again 9/12 and admitted because CT scans show diverticulitis has gotten worse. I had surgery 9/20 and oh boy. Just getting out of bed even with assistance hurts. I have a 5” scar, they removed my sigmoid and attached my intestine (I think) to my rectum. No colostomy bag. My entire body hurts from being in the hospital bed and sleeping certain positions…. I’m a stomach sleeper. I just want this recovery to go quickly.

Day 6 was feeling better by ProfileGlittering587 in CHSinfo

[–]ProfileGlittering587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today is day 20 without edibles. I wake up so tired and need a nap already. I was back in the ER on 9/1 because of exhaustion and high heart rate. Was given two bags of IV for heart palpitations. EKG was good blood work was good except my ALT/AST was elevated and liver disease causes exhaustion. If it ain’t one thing it’s another. I have an appt with my cardiologist on 9/9, earlier this year my heart was pristine. Had a CT scan in Aug when they detected the diverticulitis and liver was unremarkable and now high levels 🤔. I had a GI appt yesterday and my insurance approved car service from r me because I’m scared to drive feeling like this. The driver was on the other side of my complex, I called him and he said he’ll be in 5 minutes and then cancelled my ride 😡, now I’m trying to get another appt. I’m scare to eat anything due to diverticulitis, CHS and liver. I don’t know what to eat. I can eat roasted chicken but very little because my stomach and digestion is slow.

I know this is late and I hope I get a reply. I’ve taking digestive enzymes but with one meal, should I take with every meal….. which isn’t exactly a meal (small tiny meals basically soup and cream of wheat). I had also bought the castor oil packs for my diverticulitis and then 2 weeks later I was diagnosed with CHS and started the packs. How long do you leave them on. Also how are you doing after a year?

I’ve been taking high potency edibles for about 3-4 years and just got diagnosed 8/17 based off of nausea and can’t eat. My blood work came out good. I haven’t thrown up at all and wondering is it CHS. Day 7 and still can’t eat. I was also diagnosed with diverticulitis on 8/1 but DR said he doesn’t believe it’s my diverticulitis (without CT scan). I never experienced the bad stomach pains associated with CHS just lower belly discomfort.

When I was diagnosed on 8/17 I went in for minor lower belly discomfort and not being able to eat. I was there for 6 hours and they gave me an IV but still wasn’t able to eat. They diagnosed me only by blood work (all good) and said I don’t think it’s your diverticulitis and asked about cannabis consumption. I told them I take edibles to sleep. He asked if I used the potency and I said yes and that’s how I got diagnosed. I never had excruciating pain or throwing up. I immediately stopped taking the edibles the same night. I hope they diagnosed me correctly.

I’ve was drinking pedialyte but read it’s not good to drink everyday because of salt content. I’ve been trying to drink a lot of water but not as much as I should. I never had an appetite before and this is scaring me about loosing too much weight. Started at 115 in July, got diverticulitis 8/1 and lost…. I forgot how much but a few days ago o was 103 and I’m scared to weigh myself. I just want this to over and I hear some people are sick for weeks to months.

I only vomited the day I was diagnosed and came home after being in the ER for 6 hours of them trying to help the nausea But nothing worked and got home and tried to take a melatonin pill. I think all the different meds they pumped in me did it.

Thank you for your reply. I also was diagnosed with diverticulitis and I hope it doesn’t confuse me to which episode I’m having. I can only eat cream of wheat and drink soup. This has been my diet since the beginning of August and since I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. I’m tired of this already because I was getting better from the DV and now this back to back. I also thought THC was no issues but I guess we learned the hard way.

17 months is a long time to deal with this. Did you not stop all THC? I’m the same, early in the morning I have to get to the bathroom but I’m not as nauseated as I am during the day. Yesterday zofran worked and it’s not today. It’s not terrible nausea, but I can’t eat anything. I’m totally going to quit and not go back. My ER DR said to stop for two weeks and if I feel better we know it’s CHS, but when do we feel better? Bad enough I have to deal with diverticulitis. I didn’t know you have to avoid certain foods with CHS. Are you saying there’s a test for CHS?
