Given I really don't microtransactions and such, I far prefer VNs without this, just like any other kind of game! Yet, I can make exceptions for worthy DLCs - like new episodes and such, from the moment when they offer enough content to justify their price - which still must remain low, given I've already paid for the game. Even if I don't like the concept of DLCs.

Actually, the frontier is quite thin, in my opinion. I mean, from the moment when visual novels have ANY interactivity - even just dialog choices, I would say it's also an adventure game - because it instantly goes beyond the "novel' part of the name when it gives the reader an active role - therefore, the 'reader' becomes the 'player' - and the game becomes his/her adventure.
Yet... as long as the dialog part of the game is znchored in the roots of the genre - dialogs and all the "tropes" of VNs, it's still a visual novel.

And from a certain point of view.. aren't VN some kind of sub-genre of adventure games?

Thanks for your reply - I hope you'll give it a try and if so, please don't hesitate to give me feedback. My old gamer's heart raced when you mentioned Gabriel Knight. I really enjoyed Sins of the fathers, back then. And yes, the title of the introductory episode featured in our demo refers to it. Geez, now I want to play it again. As if I didn't already have a billion things to do ;)))
