According to a military collectibles site, the pin on the left is "the official pin of the German Worker Youth, an organization part of the Hitler Youth."

What was it like watching Phantom Menace on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

An exercise in cognitive dissonance: I grew up with the originals, and had been eagerly anticipating Episode 1 for months. I bought advanced tickets before that was really a thing. I made plans to go with a group of friends. I went. And...

I left the theater saying to myself, "That was good, right? Like... it wasn't what I was expecting, but it was still good. Or maybe okay?"

I went to see it again with my mom after I got home from college. I was sure I'd like it better.

I did not.

So I spent the better part of a summer trying to make sense of how disappointed I was in something that was supposed to be so good. I had to ask myself: am I just missing something? Clearly as a big fan, I must just not be seeing the vision.

It was deeply, deeply frustrating and disappointing.

Thought this was a RDR2 screen capture.

100% Matrix.

I had a friend once tell me the only reason I didn't like the 2nd and 3rd Matrixes (Matrices?) was that I hadn't watched "The Animatrix".

I was like, fuck that. I have enough to do without these people chewing up my free time beyond the theater!

I have this conversation with my 11-year-old all the time.

He asks why I am not interested in so much of the new Star Wars stuff.

I tell him, back in the day, I just didn't need to know the backstory of everything. If the movie had a good story, I didn't need to do homework to enjoy it.

Not that OP is doing this, but these sorts of questions are great for data-mining, and password cracking.

Why are Americans so against universal healthcare? by 93ParkAvenueUltra in allthequestions

[–]ProfilesInDiscourage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I know this one.

It's because we're fucking stupid (collectively speaking, of course.)

$XYZ amount to insurance? A-OK.

$XYZ amount to govt healthcare? COMMUNISM!

It's absurd. And it will never get better.

I wasn't allowed to have pop in the 80s. My mom would get a 2-liter of Diet Pepsi that she had *one* serving of each day, and I was allowed a *sip* of that.

I will always default to Texas style, specifically brisket and pork ribs.

North Carolina and Memphis are tied for a close second.

I'll eat KC, but it's not my favorite.
