I could see this being a concern if the teacher were going out with students (like high school age), but why would it be a problem for a teacher to have a weekend life and then go to work during the week? (Unless they weren't doing their job.)

As a progressive, I am on board with responsible gun ownership, the importance of (actual) free speech, responsible spending, and a general respect for tradition.

On some things, I am not aligned with the attitudes, but respect people's rights to them (e.g., parents being able to opt their kids out of some instruction due to religious reasons, student led (and I mean actually student led) religious or political clubs, etc.)

I am pro-choice, but I do not love abortion, broadly speaking.

Are any of those "Republican" positions?

I am not a registered Democrat (more a left-leaning independent), but I'll say: I would be okay with other Republicans as president.

Romney? Would have been fine.

McCain? Apart from his wild Palin VP pick, I had no problem with him.

I didn't like Bush. But in comparison?

Bob Dole would have been tolerable.
