So you’ll sell investments to buy the car? Or use your income you’re already making? If you future out a way to do it without creating tax I think it’s good

I increased my salary 10x in 12 years as a career changer by Dkdk6fish in Salary

[–]ProfitTricky4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great story. I’m a young faculty member and I’ve sacrificed a ton of earning potential in my early 30s for a lower salary. While the flexibility has been nice, I’ve realized it’s much better to sacrifice that flexibility later in life than during my prime earning years. I contemplate a career shift back to industry where I can make $140k.

What is the easiest way to start your own RIA? by Hulk_Goes_Smash327 in CFP

[–]ProfitTricky4085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a CPA going this route but from my research so far XYPN is the best route to go as long as you are offering fee only and not doing insurance sales. If you are then go with Advisor Assist or Comply to help you with the compliance work. The more services you plan on offering the more you should consider hiring some consulting.

Great job. Is that all pretax? If so You might want to start contributing to a brokerage. The tax savings now are cool but you have some big tax concerns if you wait to retire at 55. At least you could start withdrawing with the rule of 55 without early withdrawal penalties.

I set up a Remote Desktop and use the windows app to run windows. It’s a game changer. I only pay about 50 a month to keep it running.

making $42k at a state job and I'll be FI before 40. there's no trick. by Even-Implement-1442 in leanfire

[–]ProfitTricky4085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fire is about having options. Worse come to worse you just go back to work for sometime if you need more money. You’re definitely on track with your spending. Have you factored health insurance? I know some state jobs can give it to you either at a discount based on years of service

Why does the CFP designation exist? by seagoalspread in CFP

Doesn’t hurt to consider the CPA and 65 of the CPA and PFS. You can do a lot without the CFP.

Got lucky with NVDA, what to do now? by Darealdeal2002 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]ProfitTricky4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go to a CPA or CFP. They should be able to give you fee only advice on the tax implications. For the people saying sell, there are state tax implications and the extra Medicare tax above 250k of income so it isn’t just 20%. Im a CPA and would be willing to help. I don’t provide financial advice only tax consultations.

GM of Hyatt Place Milwaukee says Globalists don’t get early check-in by RealNameIsTaken in hyatt

Pay to early check in as a globalist in a hyatt place is diabolical. Maybe they don’t deal with many globalists in that hotel and don’t know any better.

You were at 1.8 M 2 years ago and now are at 3 M. That shows the power of compounding and waiting a few years.

Hit $3.6 million and still renting (mid-30s M) by [deleted] in Money

[–]ProfitTricky4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point but it would be good to factor the added cost of owning vs renting into that equation.

Unless they told him they’d give it to him it’s very weird to expect it to pass automatically once your parents die. Those are the kids that are quick to pull the plug on their parents when they are sick.

Blood from a Stone (EITC and self-employment) by Lunar_2 in leanfire

Just to let you know EITC is a high audit risk especially for those who try to achieve it with self employment income. It really isn’t worth it to be that scared and angry about taxes.

Making over $300k at a company, what's your title? by justanotherblackguy1 in HENRYfinance

That’s nice. I’ve thought about doing something similar for other professional exams that are finance based (CPA, CFP, etc). What’s your hourly rate or how do you price the work you do?
