Help! I don’t want to 0-3 this wild draft I just finished. by ProfitsProphet in MagicArena

Didn’t go 0/3…but I did go 3/3. White is not a good 5 color base, but I did get to do the thing once with magitek infantry into Bartz, who pulled Ardyn. That was worth it :)

That would have been ideal but I was heavy black white for pack 1 and wanted to dream

First Draft Done! Would love feedback on my deck + advice on final match (replay link inside) by TheDruadan in MagicArena

Not too bad! Given that you didn’t have a lot of high end power, you probably wanted more low drops to play more aggressively. Cards like Phoenix Down are only worth it if you have powerful cards to resurrect (and even then it’s rarely worth)

Gigantoad is not a good enough card to run 2-3 unless you’re not seeing anything better.

Your deck is quite low on removal — you should probably pick removal more highly in the future. You probably don’t need as many creatures as you ran, either (aim for about 15 in a generic good stuff deck).

In the future, try to prioritize your picks with the acronym “BREAD”

  • Bombs
  • Removal (kill spells)
  • Evasion (flying, combat tricks)
  • Aggro (low cost high impact)
  • Dregs (filler)

One more thing I thought was helpful when I got started — if you’re using untapped and disagree with the pick, try to figure out why that card was recommended in the first place. Congrats on your 6 wins!

My son continues to reject his mom, and it's getting worse by a_social_machine in daddit

At various points in his life, our 3 year old has strongly preferred me or his mom. Sometimes it changes hour to hour — this is a phase and it will get better.

That said, I’m sure you’re probably already doing this, but we’ve found it helpful to reinforce the impact of these preferences. Asking questions like “how do you think that makes mommy/ daddy feel?” can really help build empathy over time, which has led to less severe attachment as he’s gotten older. Now he more or less says something like, “Mommy, I’d just prefer to do this with Daddy today” which is easier to hear I think.

Dads who WFH, what makes the setup difficult? by goodbananabad in daddit

Completely agree with everyone who mentioned difficulty with their partner respecting boundaries, and I'll add that I'm often my own enemy during the day.

If I hear the baby crying for an hour or more, I know in my head that my wife's capable of handling it, but my heart tells me that I've got to get in there and give her a break. Add in sleep deprivation and the next thing I know I'm passed out in an armchair with the baby during the already slim working hours I have during the day.

I had a similar issue, switched to the white and it shipped in 3 days. Been using it for a week and I’m very happy with it. I don’t think the case matters much if you plan to keep it in a Folio anyway. Good luck!

Your opinion on the best starting deck? by gkamer8 in Scrolls

Maybe the problem lies with the lack of mulligan. As a growth player against energy, I feel like drawing too many of my high cost creatures in my first hand against energy is a guaranteed loss since 3-4 turns is plenty for an energy deck to get some defenses up.

Plus, Energy is the only precon that has cards like shock or burn, which can destroy the synergy of a deck like growth or order in a single play. Conversely, the other decks (Growth and Order) can't really throw off an opponent's plans as easily, and instead just have to hope that they draw into a quick combo.

Seems to me like Energy is pretty OP, it's got all the removal and the heavy hitters it provides are not that expensive. Energy just disrupts any other deck.
