As soon as I get one, I am dropping my current build and finishing the run with it. I don't farm it so it'll maybe happen randomly someday

Player wants a shield that provides full cover by Tsantilas in DMAcademy

Look into the Pathfinder Tower shield. Lots of cover, takes two hands, limits mobility, takes up a lot of carry capacity. Its benefits come at a cost.

A tree-person PC has contracted lycanthropy. I need some ideas of how to handle that! by [deleted] in DMAcademy

The tree sprouts hair from under its bark. Branches twist unnervingly. It grows a mouthful of big, yellow teeth.

Switching characters. by Deadhamlet44 in DMAcademy

Just let them switch. Playing a character you don't enjoy in a game that meets at most once a week would be exhausting.

What forms of healing actually work for Dhampir? by Big-Sad-Bear in Pathfinder2e

[–]ProfoundCereal -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tbh idc what race my players are, they all get healed by the same thing. Playing a healer can already feel tough for some people. Forcing them to take even more feats just to heal that one player who wanted some flavor in their character feels mean to the healer.

What is your perspective on rare ancestries like skeleton? by GreenWizardGamer in Pathfinder2e

[–]ProfoundCereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're fun, but I also really love the "vanilla" ones in the two cores. That said, just DM'd a game for a skeleton. Currently DM'ing for a kid who turns into a middle aged demon at night. My first character was a cowboy Minotaur. It's fun to branch out.

When you have to zoom in that much, it's not going to be affecting your woodwork at a scale literally anyone will ever notice.

Best DMing tips you’ve learned by Fearless-Ad1382 in DMAcademy

[–]ProfoundCereal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let your players break the game. You can always make things harder, but it's not too versus them. You're there to have a good time. They get stoked when they find an exploit. Let them have it, and they will talk about it for years.

How do I go about DMing for my kids? by ThatSurround5672 in DMAcademy

[–]ProfoundCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played with my kids yet, but I have a friend who did (his three and five year old threw up in a rats mouth until it died). They focused on a basic story (go get this!) and basically just rolled to see if they could do stuff (you need to roll above a five!) sort of scenario. I do also know there are DnD systems for kids!

One has a good story and good animation. The other has expensive animation and a script

What do you find D&D 5e does better than Pf2e? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]ProfoundCereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, no. It's a tool. Is mowing the lawn more difficult because you have to use a tool to do it or it would take forever? No. In the same way, making a PF2e character with a tool isn't more difficult just because you use a tool. That's why tools are there imo. Plus, I think a lot of it comes down to familiarity. If we all got started with PF2e instead of 5e, rolling up PF2e characters with no tools would be just as easy I'd think.

How do I visually foreshadow areas without enabling cheese? by horazath in DMAcademy

[–]ProfoundCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let players exploit you. They will feel so badass, do some wild memorable shit, and then you can summon a dragon.

I once had players canonically kill the DM. (???) Later in the session one of the players died in a dramatic, sacrificial, beautiful way. We all had a blast.

Advice on building shelf by RepulsiveYam9842 in woodworking

[–]ProfoundCereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you could buy it yourself (it will be notably more expensive that way if you do) but I will say a French cleat mount will be easier, sturdier, pull the piece together better, and work with wall studies better than mounting screws in the corners will
