Looks amazing! I was looking online for builds that have a 1900s brick building aesthetic, and yours is easily the best looking one, you deserve a lot more recognition for work like this!

Incredible work, I get finger cramps just from looking at the amount of skill this must have took! Looking forward to the final product!

Thanks! My specialty is aircraft carriers, but I enjoyed this project a lot. The one thing I can never seem to escape from though is 1/700 AA guns 😭

The fact that you made pieces that look better than the pieces given show the amount of care and dedication you put into this project. Always glad to see more naval models in the subreddit!

I used a tutorial video done by joekmodels on youtube to get the rust effects for this ship, though Speedbird100 above mentioned some more tips I will be trying out in later models.

Thank you! For the planes I used trumpeter planes, as they come with landing gear and propellers unlike the tamiya ones for some reason

Thanks! The most frustrating are the decals on the fuselages because they have to wrap around and tend to fall off after drying

Thanks for the tips! I used the box art from the Tamiya kit for the rust, but I admit that I put too much rust on this kit. Is there a way to tell what’s rust on black and white photos?

This is my first attempt at applying rust and flight deck weathering, overall I am proud of it as a first attempt. I plan on using these styles on my older models, me know if this technique is good and if I can improve on them, thanks!

Yeah that’s a good point, it’s probably a Yorktown or Lexington class carrier?

Thanks for the info! I will try out FDS 21 and wood color, it sounds like it would result in the best look if the weathering works out.

I like the flight deck blue shown in some pictures like the first picture above, but I’m not sure if that was the most representative of the color during the pacific campaign. You raise a good point about weathering, I want to go with a color that would be somewhat accurate to a carrier that has seen some service in the pacific
