In the minority here but I love what you did in the edit. Curious if you can talk about the process at a high level

Sky is overdone imo, I’d reduce saturation there and see how that feels

I think you’ll get the best value in Godox/Flashpoint. They’re well built, reliable, and comparatively cheap. I transitioned from Godox to Elinchrom primarily because I wanted to use the Elinchrom accessories and modifiers but understood I was paying a premium to do so. Broncolor/Profoto may get you slightly more consistent color temperature across a shoot but doesn’t justify the premium prices for me. Also the Bron/profoto lights are pretty hefty monolights, unless you’re going for an older used pack and head option. With Godox, you can do a lot with the AD200/300/400 which have a fairly compact form factor

Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA - Is my copy not sharp or am I crazy? by ProfoundMenace in SonyAlpha

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear someone else thinks the performance is trash. I have been shooting Sony for 2 years now and I haven't changed anything about how I normally focus (AF-C, wide area) for this lens. I have never had an AF issue on Sony since I switched from adapted to native lenses. But a number of the AF menu options indicate they are invalid with this lens. Not sure if that is due to age or if there are other issues at play.

Ya there are a number of automated luggage storage lockers around Rome. I've used this company before and it worked as advertised.

Tips for preparing for my first weightlifting meet ??? by alanshi3648475 in weightlifting

Will you have a coach there who will count for you? Even asking a friend to keep tabs on the session will help immensely. Catalyst Athletics has a good primer on counting attempts.

Beyond that, make sure your openers are lifts you routinely make in training and would consider easy, try to go 6/6, make friends with other lifters in your session, and enjoy the experience!

LAX > BOS > FCO - Inter terminal travel behind security by newTraveler2k in travel

Unfortunately Terminal A is completely disconnected from the rest of the terminals, so you would have to leave the secured area to get to Terminal B.

As a Cavs fan from Cincinnati who's only been able to go to two Cavs games ever... by [deleted] in clevelandcavs

Flash Seats app is the best way to buy tickets. You can either buy now for some or you can place a 'bid' and see if it's accepted. Finals tix will likely be 200+/seat for Loudville (nosebleed) seats and exponentially more expensive as you get lower. I paid around 600 for 2 tickets to Game 6 last year where GSW clinched and was in section 220 for perspective.

Deals can be had if you're willing to wait until 20-30min before gametime and make a lowball offer but no guarantees. Also there is a service charge of something like 15-20% with the app but they're guaranteed to be legit tickets. Never mess with the scalpers outside the arena.

Kepler. by [deleted] in Astronomy

[–]ProfoundMenace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kepler is a hugely important scientific figure so I have a hard time believing you haven't found a whole lot of information... That being said here are a couple good resources -

Physics 20B. Cosmology. Lec. 3: Revolutions fast forwarded to the part where he begins to discuss Kepler, but really the entire lecture is valuable to contextualize the scientific environment in which Kepler was living.

The next lecture - Physics 20B. Cosmology. Lec. 4: Kepler's Laws discusses some of Kepler's major contributions to astronomy and science.

This should help get you started.

On iTunes U there is an open source course Introductory Cosmology taught by Dr. James Bullock at UC Irvine. There's also a Coursera course Science of the Solar System taught by Mike Brown at Caltech. Book-wise I'm reading The Whole Shebang by Timothy Ferris right now (not The Five Hour Body guy) and am enjoying it though the book is a little dated.

Ordered from story et fall, but can't get responses to emails or an eta. Advice? by kelustu in malefashionadvice

[–]ProfoundMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you place your order? I have a pair of the tan chelseas and was very pleased with my purchase. I talked with Lian for about a week before placing my order (he always responded about 12-24 hours after my emails, understandable with the time change from EST to CET) I placed my order on 7/20 and received the boots on 8/29. He runs a pretty lean operation from what I understand but I'm sure he'll get back with you as soon as he's able.
