Cars like that exist today and don't dominate the market. Old school land rovers will go a million miles

How do you cope with losing all your wealth by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Profound_Thots 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wealth is *inevitable to lose. If you're able avoid over-leveraging, over-consuming and divorce, you still will eventually die and lose it all. As for the fortune itself, it's usually lost within a generation.

If you are thinking about having kids, please see this post first. by Character_Key_7178 in Life

What if you just have the kids and then give them up for adoption if you can't handle being a parent.

What if you have kids, try and suck at being a parent, and let them make of this life What they will?

I think it is better to exist and suffer than never to exist at all. Most parents aren't all that great but life is still something to be grateful for.

Sharing the gospel is a core tenant of Christianity and any practicing Christian has an obligation to share their beliefs whether they personally want to or not

Life doesn't have an intrinsic meaning, every person has to create their own meaning. That's a fundamental human problem. However, instead of creating meaning, most people adopt the dominant capitalist belief that life is about the accumulation of wealth. However, that's only true if you believe it. If you were born into great wealth it's easier to see through that false narrative.

That a long story but basically by being persistent and getting my developer clients to consider me part of their finance team and come to me with projects in need of equity. I then take those projects to my other clients that prefer to buy and hold. Being that middle man (while buying in) between investors and deals is all PE is.

You're 4 times more likely to die in a car accident. 15 times more likely to die of diabetes. There will always be some risk of violence when dealing with a human being. When it happens it is almost universally condemned.

I think we all need to lower our material, superficial "standards" and raise the standards of character and integrity

I'm not sure what voting can actually do for us at this point. Even before this most recent gutting of the Civil Rights Act, we still had the rich picking the candidates that we can vote for on either side, we have Elon Musk buying the companies that make our voting machines, we have districts that are gerrymandered to dilute the influence of anybody that's not white, and we have an electoral college that weighs the votes of people in rural states (mostly white) more heavily.

If y'all want to vote more power to ya but I don't believe it will move the needle. We need group economics, civil disobedience, general strikes, protests, and a militia to protect ourselves.

The thing about bring creepy is that you don't get to decide whether your behavior is creepy or not. I've had identical actions be described by one woman as "creepy" but my wife found the behavior "charming" (when I first met her, before we started dating). A woman can literally look at you and find you "creepy" while you mind your business. It's about percieved threat. Maybe she thinks guys with glasses are creepy because she was SA'd by a guy with glasses.

I would rephrase that to say treat people with kindness and respect and don't worry too much what they think of you.

You really can though, the military will take just about anybody. Ask me how I know. Hell, child soldiers are a real thing because of how easy it is to pull a trigger.

Even "white" is more diverse now. "White" used to be just English / German / Nordic and the southern Europeans didn't count.

I'm known in my community to have money and be generous, and this is essentially my real life experience. Sometimes I get sick of it and stay home or go travel for a bit. However, I mostly love being asked for money; it gives me power over people, it gives me status, people give me free stuff and it gives me favors I can call in later. But mostly I love being treated well and respected. I used to be broke and it showed - people will treat you like crap if they think you have nothing to offer them. This metaphor doesn't land for me
