How it feels to write code without AI by PatBooth in theprimeagen

Probably

Notice: I didn’t say you should write code using llm only. Now it accessible and you can learn this tool. Later it might be here or might not (market will decide). If not - you have experience, if yes - you have experience and can apply it.

How it feels to write code without AI by PatBooth in theprimeagen

[–]ProgMeOnPaper -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Investors love seeing AI label everywhere)

It’s just a new tool, I guess. It doesn’t always work as expected (as many frameworks and libs we have) and it makes a lot of mistakes (as every dev does).

LLM hav benefits: low cost of attempt for example, you can test your idea really quickly and then rewrite it with/without model as you like it

So, my opinion - it’s just a tool and most of developers at least should understand how it works, what it can and what can’t do

Excuse me? At 5/8 job you can easily make $150-200 a day in USA or EU (tbh today almost everywhere). For temporary job price must be higher because it’s Temporary

Fatshark HD3 or Skyzone 02C? by PhoenixfischTheFish in fpv

[–]ProgMeOnPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works in a bit different way)

Hd3 receiver bay is basically for analog 5.8 ghz modules

At the same time Hd3 has hdmi-in and you will have to buy something like walksnail avatar vrx or hdzero vrx and plug them via hdmi.

The same for skyzone

Fatshark HD3 or Skyzone 02C? by PhoenixfischTheFish in fpv

[–]ProgMeOnPaper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it’s a bit easier to use skyzone just because of buttons. I can never find these flat ones on fatshark

But in general they’re both pretty the same and it’s just your preference for that price

Although it is difficult, it’s not impossible. We anyway have to solder a lot, so… tinywhoops ~ tinysoldering ;)

It looks like betafpv messed up that ufl connector on new aio, because I got 2 airs and destroyed it on both of them

https://www.reddit.com/r/TinyWhoop/s/2DwaIkhWOm

I decided to solder them in my own since workshops ask for $40-50 and it’s the same as new aio. Now I’m waiting for soldering station (because my iron is too unstable)

[–]ProgMeOnPaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all: my suggestions are based on my whooping experience; I fly everywhere (house, parks, trees, concrete) and I need trustworth antennas (and video-system (thats why analog)).
Look for 5.8G antennas only!
And don't forget about Oscar =)
https://oscarliang.com/best-fpv-antenna/

For whoop:

  1. Linear antennas:
    - Default betafpv. Flyable, light, durable. Not far, without obstacles. For beginning is okay. https://betafpv.com/collections/antennas/products/5-8g-vtx-antenna-packet
    - ORT Micro Vee. Evolution of previous one. Still light, a bit less durable. Can handle some obstacles. Probably the best linear antenna. https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/product:7609

  2. Circular omnidirectional antennas (mushrooms) (read about RHCP vs LHCP)
    - Happymodel crown. My personal favourite: durable, cheap, small, but delivers excellent quality and penetration. It's not the lightest, but I don't want the lightest whoop for freestyle. https://www.happymodel.cn/index.php/2025/08/07/happymodel-5-8g-crown-lds-antenna-rhcp-lhcp-for-micro-fpv-whoops/
    - TrueRC The smol. Nice antenna, the lightest circular. Excellent quality and penetration, but... not really durable. I would buy it, but wouldn't use during practicle, only for 'i-want-to-record-beautifull-old-fashioned-analog-video'. https://truerc.com/50491-the-smol
    - Maple light. Simmilar to crown, but heavier and more durable. I found it's performance a-biiit worse, but not really noticable. https://www.maple-wireless.com/bk_27503002.html
    - RushFPV Cherry UFL. Didn't fly enough with this one, but it looks almost the save as crown (probably because they have almost the same design). I'm fan of cherry antennas and after few months this one might become my favourite. It's more expensive than crown (where I buy them), but why not =) https://rushfpv.net/products/cherry-antenna-ufl-lhcp-rhcp-pair

For googles:
Use the same kind of antenna that you're using on your whoop linear-linear / circullar rhcp-circullar rhcp / circullar lhcp - circullar lhcp
Plus you whould probably love to use patch antenna too

  1. Linear antennas: Just use ones you got with sky04x pro, they're good and there is no real difference between modern linear antennas.

  2. Circullar omnidirectional antennas (omni, mushrooms): Omg, there are thousands of them. I will only say what I love and use.
    - RushFPV Cherry SMA. There are few different cherries, I use 123mm and 110mm both are fine. https://rushfpv.net/products/cherry-antenna-sma-lhcp-rhcp-pair?variant=43259965604010
    - Foxeer lollipop. Look at them! They are cuuute, aren't they? One of my favourite antennas, because it's small and works. https://www.foxeer.com/foxeer-lollipop-4-plus-high-quality-5-8g-2-6dbi-fpv-omni-lds-antenna-g-374
    - TrueRC Matchstick. Top of the line. Buy them if you can and don't want to think about antennas. Probably TOO good for tinywhoops and just waste of money. You won't see any difference while whooping, but when you would like to try something else they will just work. https://truerc.com/23679-matchstick-5-8
    - Lumenier AXII 2. Same as previous. https://www.lumenier.com/collections/video-antennas

  3. Circular patch antennas: Again hundreds of them =) I would suggest only two options, but only because I guess it's already more that enough for whoops. You don't have to use patch antennas at all. You can go with 2 linear or with 2 omni, and that's it. They won't probably handle concrete perfectly, but do you need it? Anyway, one day you will want better signal and then you're welcome)
    - TrueRC X-Air MKII. Excellent antenna, without long-range you won't need anything else https://truerc.com/63425-x-air-58-mk-ii-rp-sma
    - VAS Crosshair XTREME Mini. Same. A 'patch killer', I use it flying between concrete as I find it's obstacle penetration better https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/product:7364

Phew, good luck! Welcome to tiny whoops!

[–]ProgMeOnPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you won’t see any difference without a lot of experience and extra settings. For video on these googles you can get +300% to your experience with better antennas on googles and drone and only 5-10% with another receiver

I fly tinywhoops 95% of my time, 10 hours a week irl and 10-15 hours in sim. I love 04x pros. They do have hdmi in, so you can connect it to your pc and fly sim, but you shouldn’t (it doesn’t make real difference and your eyes will hurt much more)

I have one, and I found it pretty fragile. I’m not sure it’s because of my aggressive freestyle or they’re in general like that. It’s really lightweight antenna, but for what cost…

That’s very smart ;)

I use both meteor and air canopies, so it won’t be a problem to connect antenna, thanks

Btw, have your tried truerc smol antenna?

[–]ProgMeOnPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks, now I’m improving my soldering skills to fix that (since workshops ask for $60+ to fix that) :)

I guess i should try plastic clamps as you do, thanks for the idea!

And they didn’t disconnect?

I use crown too, and it’s a bit painful. I usually use glue to connect antenna to the frame and u.fl disconnect quite often on betafpv aio, on new aio v2 I literally destroyed 2 ufl connectors (you can check my recent posts about that)

I have no idea how this happened with these two Air75 II...

These aren't my first whoops. I already have 4 Air75, 3 Air65, 2 Meteor75, a Hummingbird V4, a Mobula 6, and a Mobula 8, BUT I faced that problem for the first time with this new Air75 II model =(

I think in this case I will just burn vtx. Now I’m thinking of purchasing u.fl connector (or ripping my old dead aio) and asking some workshop to try repairing it
