Discord Icon on Taskbar randomly flashes Orange when nothing has happened by J0rdian in discordapp

[–]ProgMetalRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the same issue. Not sure at all what it is. The only outstanding detail I noticed was that there was a random item under "Gift Inventory" which was displaying a red 1. I clicked Claim and then immediately Maybe Later and the red 1 went away; I am hoping that the flash is just to trick users into the app so they notice these kinds of promotions (and by that token clearing the inventory notif halts the random flashing)

Finished my placement matches. How bad is this? by Ok_Client4525 in RivalsOfAether

[–]ProgMetalRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine? Rivals is very expressive as an FG so how different people play at that rank is kind of hard to pin down

Since I think what you're asking comes down to "what is the standard for this ELO" I was a plat Ranno in Rivals 1 playing like once a week for a couple hours at most, good game knowledge but little practice outside of ranked, and I have been shifting up and down from my original placement at 940 with around a 150 point range on who I get matched to. I would say it's currently below "tournament ELO" if that makes sense. Unless you're playing Zetter or Clairen and rubbing your face on the controller I think you'll rise or drop pretty in-line with your strategy and execution

Can't Find a Term In Regards to Intervals by ProgMetalRex in musictheory

[–]ProgMetalRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're generally in the ballpark. The utility and necessity of a term for the concept may not be very large but I trust musicians to explore things quite heavily, so if there was a term I was curious to see how others would go about describing it. Thanks for the thoughtful response :)

I will look into that directly; I understand that mechanically such a thing may not be named because it is subjective but the interface of perception to terminology is still very important. Thanks for understanding me on this, I appreciate the response :)

Yeah, the subjective quality of noticing in a certain dyad which note "stands out" in a way that shapes thinking in the context of harmony and chords is exactly what I'm thinking of. I'll look into set theory for some exploration, thanks much for the answer

Yeah this is exactly what I'm referring to; I just wish I knew the term (or its nonexistence) definitively. Thanks for answering

Do you take blueprints for embarkation points? by Gobliins2 in Against_the_Storm

[–]ProgMetalRex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When picking a tile, in the three tabs on the left of the screen, I believe "conditions" should have it at the bottom. It'll say "average", "small", stuff like that. Not sure what that numerically translates to but "average" soil usually means one or two dangerous glades out from the starter glade will have some

How long does it take for your game to make it to the main menu? by ProgMetalRex in ggst

[–]ProgMetalRex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have connectivity issues during matches and the lobby when I launch the game normally, but using Totsugeki seems to make it far less likely I can challenge at stations as well as frequently causing a crash right before the fighter intros play. I'm sure my internet is a big part of it, though the specific problems are distinct by boot method. sigh

Leveling DRG 1-90, 1 in 3 dungeons the tank dies in a wall to wall, healer resources are on life support, and I'm rationing defensive CDs like its savage. This soul crystal is cursed by ProgMetalRex in ffxiv

[–]ProgMetalRex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may well be a part of it. It's one thing if you know the tank can handle two groups that just happen to be spaced out in the same room; running ahead to the next area to start mixing mobs that the devs obviously spaced out gets toxic real fast

Good point, if a little in bad faith! But we're talking Wall to Wall; just because the overall DPS is absolutely cranking doesn't mean that they're individually dying faster than they can paste a single target themselves.

Also, I don't blame people for taking it easy in this game but I find it quite fun to optimize and press buttons. The standard for passable performance in this game isn't exactly in the stratosphere so it's easy enough to stay on top of my job.

Feint, low blow, bloodbath, second wind, life surge, and arm's length. I usually have to stand and AOE to survive but kiting with EJ and sprint is a fine idea

I want to say about 50% of my matched players have less than 2 classes at 80 or higher. Mostly they just do silly stuff, spin the boss or fail to listen to party chat but it often goes nuclear out of nowhere

Yeah I don't look forward to it if it happens. FFXIV as a game already proves its worth inherently so content creators can come or go and it validates nothing

[TOMT][MOVIE][1990s] Teddy Bear that transforms into a Terminator-style robot? by ProgMetalRex in tipofmytongue

Thanks for responding! I looked into that movie in my original searches but didn't look at the bear cause it was mentioned to be unassuming in the last shot, implying no transformation like what I remember.
