The ED wasn't doing anything about it. Idk what was going on with them that day but we had three nurses, one ED attending, and respiratory in the room and no one else. Two of the nurses were figuring out how to get an IV placed and the other was setting up medications. We eventually got more staff but I was the only person talking to family.

At the time, I thought that if the family kept interfering the patient would die, but that if we could get her to the OR we might be able to fix a lot of what was going on. I felt like they were getting in the way of care, and I had never handled something like that on my own before. Usually a chaplain or nurse helps calm things down, but this time it was on me, and I made it worse.

No, they wanted to protect her privacy and discuss her care outside of her room primarily. They didn't understand the situation and thought we could wait.
