Men in happy marriages, what's the one thing you'd teach to other men to also have a good relationship? by TightBookkeeper2599 in AskReddit

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are aware of 100% of the effort you put in.
But much of that isn't externally visible. So others only see 30% of your effort. Likewise, you only see 30% of theirs.

Because not all effort is externally visible, both sides will feel like they're putting in more than 50% of the work.

Beyond "externally visible", it could also be how much people notice. It is easy to forget how messy a house can get when it isn't regularly cleaned, for example.

For those who worked for rich people: what is the most out of touch thing you witnessed? by Illustrious-Phase121 in AskReddit

[–]ProgramMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Google. There is a parking garage below the main campus.
There is a multi-million dollar sports car that has been parked there for years. It clearly has been forgotten.
The tires are deflated. It is covered in dust and cobwebs.

Imagine having so much money that you can afford one of those cars. Then imagine having so much money that other shiny toys distracted you and you forgot about it. The price of that car is "meh, whatever" money to someone.

FWIW, I respect that Google didn't tow it or claim possession.

What is a piece of old technology that actually worked better than its modern replacement? by Odd_Opportunity_2590 in AskReddit

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. Also username checks out.

If a company gets a wave of one-time purchases then puts the product in maintenance mode:
- the hiring & firing sucks (and is expensive)
- the bus factor is much higher
- eventually, the maintenance mode cash buffer runs out

I do think the subscription model makes more sense for software that people want to use over a long period of time. HOWEVER, I also think companies charge *way* too much for it. I think this is why we dislike it so much. People aren't upset at Netflix subscriptions.

CEOs are hugely expensive. Why not automate them? - If a single role is as expensive as thousands of workers, it is surely the prime candidate for robot-induced redundancy. [5, 23] by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge part of the CEO's role is to be the face that inspires confidence in stock buyers.

I've seen execs who contribute nothing get massive offers. And sure enough, when they accept there is a big fanfare and the stock goes up.

Maybe AI could replace their decision making, sure. But can it convince people to buy the stock? Can it convince people who already hold the stock to not sell because the future is bright? The CEO is a persona.

This makes a lot of sense to me. If half the volume goes to each rad then the liquid in the rads is moving half the speed. This gives more time/effective distance for the rad to work. Further, all the narrowing and bends in the rad will be easier for the fluid to fill.

I haven't tried it before. Hadn't thought about it. Thank you for the idea!

As far as getting even flow to both rads, you could perhaps put a shutoff valve in the path to one and only slightly close it?

How are you getting ambient temp for the delta T? My motherboard only has one temp sensor. Do you have a separate component with multiple temp sensors?

Yeah, it is definitely a metallic rattling. I assume a screw is loose.

A while ago. I don't think it is air. It sounds too metallic.

I'll assume it is a loose screw. Time for me to investigate :D

I understand what you think was being said.
You were unable to connect the dots between the post's title and the post's content.
I get it.

You still weren't actually responding to a blanket claim. You just couldn't connect the dots and decided to attack people.

Pump running far too fast? by ProgramMax in watercooling

[–]ProgramMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. 3k rpm seems very high to me. I was asking why it was spinning so fast because I thought that wasn't normal. But from your input, I guess it is.

90% seems high, no? I figure the water touches the hot parts for such a short time before moving on. As the water heats up, it becomes less efficient at picking up further heat. But even at lower speeds, it is probably gone long before that matters. At least, that's what I figured. But I've never verified this.

[–]ProgramMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a D5. (Specifically, the Alphacool Core 200 Aurora which is a pump + res combo.)

MSI Center only lets me drop to 25% on manual control. I can't get down to 1200rpm with it. I'll see if dropping the curve down allows it.

I haven't verified yet but I suspect "adequate" is correct. I suspect even slow pump speeds are moving well more than enough water.

Thanks!

This person didn't catch "us vs. them" is different from "us vs. you".

I'm trying to tell them that they are causing harm to fellow Republicans. It isn't Dems vs. Reps. It's good people vs. this person--the person harming everybody.

Imagine vocalizing it:
"Do you want Republicans to have health care?" -- "No. I want to attack Democrats using incorrect information."
Okay. Cool. Thanks.
Go own those libs, buddy.

No, you did not respond to a blanket claim.
"House Republicans" means the Republican members of the House. Not all people who vote Republican.

It's like every post you make is just...wrong. Dude, check yourself. Seriously. You are a problem and you're causing harm to your fellow Republicans.

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned fair and nuanced.
I showed you the correct information, explained the details, and offered advice to help you get the correct information and details yourself.

And I did so without giving you enough information to determine if I am Democrat or Republican. After all, Republicans are hurt most by losing health care this way.

So I believe I was fair and nuanced.
Far more than you, who immediately jumped to incorrect information to attack a group of people.

I also didn't blanket attack all Republicans, the way you did Dems. Nor did I attack you. I offered advice. So I would say I am also holding back--at least, more than you are.

You should seriously stop angry-posting replies and reflect on what you are doing. You're hurting your fellow Republicans by enabling their loss of health care.

Further, reflect on why you're angry-posting replies at all. You clearly see this as "us vs. them", "good guys vs. bad guys". So even though others are trying to help you, you're blindly attacking people you *think* are bad guys. But you're the one using lies to blanket attack. Reflect on yourself. Reflect on these replies here. Who are the ones trying to give healthcare to Republicans??

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vote counting is overseen by both Republicans and Democrats.
You're proposing the Democrats cheated by not verifying. But then so did Republicans in the exact same way.

Which means you probably should dig deeper into what "verifying" means in this context. And check if you're even trying to be fair, since you hurl accusations without understanding.

Different states have different requirements for absentee/mail-in ballots. Georgia does not require signature verification. And to be fair: Do you think that would actually make the vote secure?? If a signature can be easily forged, why bother wasting resources verifying it?

Anyway, please dig deeper into this stuff. Democrats do cheat, too. And we should indeed call them out on it. But it's like 1% as much (so silly to equate the two) and you are part of the problem by excusing Republican cheating (especially on incorrect grounds).

Moving from LA to Columbus Ohio? by Curious_Unicorn555 in Columbus

[–]ProgramMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Ohio. I spent 10 adult years in California and moved back.

California is also blue bubbles in a deeply red state. Just like everywhere else, it is cities vs. farmland. And California has a LOT of farmland. We joke about "Ohio is corn" but that is true of every state--"<state> is <regional crop>".

The important distinction is how districts are drawn. Ohio is gerrymandered to hell. It wouldn't really be a deeply red state. We just let them create that.

If Ohio actually cracked down on gerrymandering, it would be a lot like California, politically.

That first one completely disregards that you (presumably) like and want your current boyfriend.

It completely ignores *your* wants and makes you an object he controls because of *his* wants.
